Good for Tulane. Won't matter much though if a big boy comes calling.

I don't think we have to worry about that yet.

But being from the area he might be more willing to stay at Tulane than you'd think.

How? Most think the jury is still out on him. He can recruit, but there's still some questions on how good he is in other areas.

I think it's more of the opposite.
The traditional recruiting has been perhaps a bit better than mediocre, considering the recruiting location of the school.
He's managed the program very well.

Keeping the assistants is gonna be a problem. With all that NFL experience Washington has I'd imagine some bigger schools will give him a look.

Washington's getting up there in age. But he's done a great ob.
Our DL coach Sumrall is the guy who will be in hyper demand. We were top 20 in stopping the run. He's young, he was a successful DC for San Diego and a co-DC here. He's the one we really, really need to keep if we can.

The recruiting rankings may be just a bit better than mediocre, but he's bringing in some under the radar guys who are turning out to be pretty damn good. I'll say he did hire a pretty good staff, but if the offense doesn't improve drastically next year he'll have to bring in a new OC and maybe a new offensive system.

Sumrall turned down an offer last year, so I'm sure he'll get some more offers this year. He may be gone

He just goes in a bunch of threads and makes some inflammatory statement then gets out.

Dude, the offense is awful. Tulane may not be abled to bring in the type of lineman to run a pro style offense.
The defense is what won games this year.

As long as he recruits well and gets them winning again, I don't think they care. However, Tulane needs to continue to be willing to pay decent money for someone up and coming, not a has-been or a 'safe' pick.

he turned down an offer to be San Jose's DC. Not an upgrade, especially as he's from Alabama.

The OC isn't the problem with the offense. That would be personnel. No we won't get Alabama OL, but we can build a good one. We don't have enough skill weapons on O yet either.
