Gotta give it to the recruiting board

I'm what some people may call a "star-gazer". And I wasn't as excited as some of you when Rashard Robinson committed to us. Y'all were going on about his high school film and how good he was, and I just didn't buy it.
Now I guess you could say I understand exactly what you mean. Y'all predicted that perfectly. It reminds me why I read this board in the first place. He's the next great defensive back to be at LSU, and will be a huge threat for us next year. Im glad we have him

I'm glad they were letting them at today. There could have easily even 12 pass interference penalties on both sides. Mike Evans pushed off every single play he had on the ball. RR was holding hi
And roughing him up as well though

As Verne and Gary said "Great CB's are sneaky"

As long as the ref's are calling it consistently against both teams, I'm alright with it. Sort of like a pitcher having to find the umpire's strike zone. One of their Db's grabbed OBJ's arm 3-4 times and RR21 was playing very physical. The ref's let them go at it and I loved it.

Exactly, if the receiver is going to be physical then there needs to be leeway on the defensive side and the refs did a good job of letting it go.
Made me lose respect for Mike Evans watching him whine like a little kid looking for calls. If you're going to be physical then expect it to come at you

I will admit I got somewhat mad at the non-PI calls on Beckham but I was fine with it after remembering how they were handling the Evans scenario

Rashard Robinson was a 4 star recruit when he committed and when he signed. what the hell kind of star gazer 'doesn't buy' the skill of a 4 star player?

I was just about to post this. I think the op doesn't have his stars aligned

Lots of rantards don't like Ritter and his crew. But i got to hand it to them in one respect, they let the guys play the game. Thought they were not calling contact unless it was blatant. I agree though there were a couple of plays where Beckham arm was being held while the ball was in the air. Must admit i have a purple and gold eye on the situation. I was really surprised when they played Evans man to man with Rashad, i really didn't think they would match up given the size difference. Glad to see i was mistaken

Dude Ritters crew sucked arse just as they always do. Besides obj's arms being drug down on multiple occasions Evans should have been flagged at least 3 times for offensive pass interference and that 4 down spot was horrendous!
frick Eagle Eye and his whole crew of bumbling idiots!!!

How many receptions did he have again? Oh yeah, 4. Two of them came early in the first. Why is that? Because Robinson learned he can be just as physical with Evans and went after it.
By the time he is done, Robinson will be up there in the conversation with Peterson

I have never agreed with "refs being consistent" in any sport being OK. Soooo, in baseball, the home plate umpire can call balls 1 foot outside the plate as strikes and that is OK....that is as long as they are consistent?
I know all of this is on the wrong board, but I have to chip in a couple of things. IF a WRer does that (extending his arm straight out from his body time after time after time) as a HC, I would call the ref over to the sideline and say this game is about to get more physical than you have ever seen. Since you don't want to enforce OBVIOUS pass interference, then please don't enforce obvious late hits on Evans. Take control of the game or we will be more than happy to take care of it for you. Danielson and Lundquist said SEC teams have been complaining about Evans and his "technique" the entire year. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, REFS!! IT IS AGAINST THE RULES!
BTW, also congrats to the SEC refs/replay booth for that INCOMPETENT performance on the Jennings QB sneak. Funny, if anyone watched the end of the Vandy-UT game, the EXACT same thing occurred! The Vandy QB ruled short on a 4th down play on a QB sneak that would have lost the game...you couldn't see the ball either but his body position just like Jennings shows he made the 1st down. In that game, they reversed the call. Both Jennings and the Vandy QB made the first down by about 2 feet. They reversed the call in the other game!

ODB must've been talking shite saying he could win with one hand behind his back...that corner made him prove it

and there were a lot of folks on here saying Tre White would take a CB starting slot this year and I did not believe that even though I thought he was pretty good. That did not take long.

White still gets beat a little more than Mills IMO but I don't care who starts. I am pleased with White, Robinson, and Mills myself. The only guy who unfortunately really didn't belong starting was J Collins. Bring him in when you need extra CBs or to give someone a break but J Collins simply gets beat too much.
To bring this back to recruiting a bit, I think when you play a lot of TR FR like LSU does, that can only help in recruiting. Just this year, these guys have seen action.
T White, R Robinson, Beckwith (did he play in this game?), C Lacouture, Pocic, Jennings, R Jefferson, D Riley, L Neal, M Jones.
