people like her because she's not perfect, she's got her own look and her own feel on film.
obviously she looks nothing like lauren hutton but years ago people went wild for LH because she was similarly imperfect but still somehow beautiful

Pretty sure she's been nominated for an Oscar.
ETA: Yep nominated for an Oscar and also 2nd youngest person to be nominated for a Tony. I'm pretty sure she's considered by her peers to be a great actress.
