I would ask if anyone has given the game a chance. Most of the haters I've seen have never even watched an entire game.

"I know all about soccer."
"How?"
"I played when I was younger."
"Really? When did you stop playing?"
"Fourth grade."

I blame the soccer played in the US. "The Beautiful Game" is very rare here. I played soccer through high school (club and at a great high school program), and I didn't understand the beautiful game until I started watching the Europeans. I wish I could go back knowing what I know now.

Americans can't handle that many good looking dudes in one place at one time.

People fear what they don't understand. Hate what they can't conquer. I guess that's just a theory of man .

I accidentally clicked on this board and landed on this thread. A lot of smart, open minded people try to watch soccer but are bored by it.
some people think chess or bird watching is thrilling.
No need to cast stones at people because they like different shite.
Not directed at you gmorgan. Even though you suck

Its simple, we didn't invent it so we do like it. Other than golf, we don't take to sports we didn't invent to well. Hell we didn't like rugby so we created football.

People fear/hate things they don't understand. This is particularly prevalent among low education areas such as the American south.

Many reasons. One of them being the types of guys that play soccer in this country. Lots of dudes that aren't good enough to play football or baseball, or potheads. By some, it's kinda looked at as a sport the nerds or pussies play. It's really dumb. I think this mindset is probably more prevalent in the south though, where I grew up.

Yeah I can see how other places would be this way, but the guys I played with played soccer since they were 10. They never even tried any other sport.

Thats the irony. 99% of the time, its everyone casting stones at us, not the other way around. Otherwise, this thread would have never been started.
