It's only being reported by the Marietta Daily Journal but this is what they have:

Would be a good move, IMO. Getting it out of the slums and in to the suburbs. Will be easier for a lot of fans to than the hell that is downtown. This still seems a little bit odd but it kind of makes sense.

The Atlanta Braves are expected to announce today the team plans to relocate to Cobb County with a new stadium being ready for the 2017 season. They will be leaving Turner Field after their 20 year agreement expires at the end of the 2016 season . . . The new stadium will be built near the intersection of I-75 and 285. The current site is under contract and set to close in early 2014.

Is Turner in the ghetto or something? Why leave?

Was it terrible in 96 around the time it was built?
The braves can't even fill a playoff quality roster and now suddenly they are getting a new stadium?
I mean the braves will struggle to resign Brian McCann for cryin' out loud and now a stadium?

Meh. Hate to see white flight amongst major league sports teams.

It has been confirmed now. Wow. Talk about coming out of nowhere. Should be great for the Marietta area.

Blame Liberty Media. Maybe they feel the need to actually DO something...

I will be going to a lot more games now

Could this also be the reason that Marta never got access to the field because deep down the braves didn't want it?
I have taken the awkward bus from the marta plenty of times, it just felt strange.
It all makes sense now.

Turner isn't in that bad of a location, and traffic would be even worse if they move it to Cobb.
They say "near 75 and 285". I work right there, and I have no idea where they think they'll put a stadium.
A better idea would be to invest in a light rail/subway line to Turner instead of running shuttle busses from Five Points.

Yes because getting to that area is so easy in the evening.
This is simply stupid.

Now just put the stadium at a damn Marta stop so you don't have to walk or take a shuttle bus.

Yeah it's in the hood. This is a good move, imo.
Are there any mock ups of the new stadium design? I bet it's going to be badass.

so whos going to pay for this one?... Im a little skeptical that atlanta metro will support to huge stadium construction projects at the same time, but more power to them if they can pull it off.
