Trust me, I knew multiple players during the bobby dark years. The players literally did not care about winning or losing.
that has zero relevance to the topic.

Was he expected to do better than that?
to be considered a top 5 coach.... I believe so. In general, no he should be expected to do better. like I said he is very good but to be considered great and all I dont think you can lose to unranked NC State teams that have no business being on the field with you. You shouldnt lose multiple games in the ACC.

Al Golden won at Temple. Read that sentence again. Al Golden won at Temple.
I'm not sure Jimbo is top 2 in the state of Florida.

It has everything to do with the topic. You're arguing his first few years at FSU were poor. I'm explaining why. Jimbo took over a program stuck in the mid 90s. What he has done is incredible.

if they had 1 or 2 loses this year would it still be incredible?
Like I said I think he is very very good. I do not believe he is top 5
and Jimbo was on the staff that got these kids and had that dont care attitude so Id say he takes a little blame in that as well

Yes. I'm telling you, our program was a dumpster fire. I wish I could go into depth. The stories are ridiculous.

I get it they sucked. But they have a great recruiting area and play in a shite conference. Jimbo was a part of that dumpster fire. Its not like they brought him in after.
he is a good coach. He is not a top 5 coach

The whole "it's easy to win because it's got a great recruiting base" argument is pretty terrible, IMO.
Look at USC, Florida, and Texas. Look at a team from Idaho beating the shite out of an SEC team from Georgia.
Recruiting hotbeds are important, but not nearly as important as everyone makes it out to be. What you do with the players you have is WAY more important.

His hands were tied, Jimbo has little to no power to make any changes. It's easy to say that it's FSU and they always recruit well and play in the ACC, but none of that matters if your program is a decade behind the times.

I never said it would be easy. All im saying is they have a top 3 recruiting base in the country. its not like this dude is doing this at montana or something.

Bama sucked when Saban got there. How long did it take for him to turn things around?
Posted on 11/10/13 at 1:48 pm to HoLeInOnEr05
1 year I believe
ETA:
2nd year 12-2 losing to Utah in Sugar bowl (only regular season loss was the the National Champion)
3rd year NC

It's FSU. There's no excuse to not dominate the ACC.
He's a good coach, but he's not on that level yet.
If FSU is still rolling the way they are now after Winston leaves, I'll agree with you.

You can't compare Jimbo and saban.
Posted on 11/10/13 at 1:50 pm to genro
But isn't that his argument? He's saying FSU recruit better than all the teams in the acc, but Jimbo still loses games to inferior opponents. That's a product of coaching not players.

If you want to say hes top 5 coaches in the country you should.

Not really. Y'all are a major program in the best state for football talent playing in a traditionally weak conference.

Saban's top 1... He can be top 5 and not compare...

if you arent going to compare than how can you say top 5?
Im not saying Jimbo should stack up with Saban but it deserves to be mentioned.
Jimbo is a top 10-12 coach... not top 5
