I would like them to feature the NO logo more - the one similar to the NY of the Yankees.

We still have a bottom three NBA fan base and very tepid support.
You say this after 5 games ??????????????
Damn man give it a chance.
When this team starts jelling we will have many more sellouts. We may be one of the youngest teams in the NBA.

I feel like the support on TD, both on PT and throughout, is at relative high right now. Check out all the Pels team icons and sig pics everywhere!

Yeah unfortunately the mass population of our fanbase doesn't give a shite about basketball until football season is over. Crowds are always better in the spring, only way that changes is years of winning.

Honestly, I still do not like it. The name "Pelicans" is one of the worst in professional sports
You mean like the other ones whose team name is soooooooooooooooooooooooo representative of their city? Like, say:
'Utah Jazz', 'L.A. Lakers', 'Memphis Grizzlies',
'Atlanta Hawks', 'Sacramento Kings', 'Washington Wizards', 'Cleveland Cavaliers', 'Tennessee Titans', 'Arizona Cardinals','Indianapolis Colts'
or maybe those other incredibly catchy and scintillatingly EXCITING names like:
'Brooklyn Nets' -ooooh, there's some magic! or 'Denver Nuggets' - how enamoring !
You are wrong.
The Pelican is the state bird of Louisiana, is on the seal of the state of Louisiana, and is native to our state, not to mention it is a very vicious predator.
I like the nickname 'Pels' also - something sporty about it.

Too bad people on TigerDroppings don't even go to games. They would rather sit on a computer and bitch about everything instead of getting wild at the Perch.

I love the rebrand so far. For me, it harkens back to a time when team nicknames were more about local identity than intimidation. In a vacuum, names like the Maple Leafs, Orioles, Packers, Mets, Celtics and Saints (!) seem a little odd. Over time, the identities become seamless, and often iconic. But in the last couple of decades, newer teams that force fierce-sounding names down our throats, ultimately fall flat. Think Jaguars, Raptors, Grizzlies. Grizzlies isn't even that bad other than the fact that there is no true local connection between Memphis and grizzly bears.
Chris Paul poo-poo'd the new team nickname, which is ironic because he joined a team named the Clippers, an old boat with a bunch of sails. Kobe Bryant even chimed in, saying the Pelican name doesn't exactly strike fear into the opponent. Oh yeah, he's a Laker. A fricking Laker. But I guess Bryant can say that because the Lakers have created an iconic identity with time and winning. Intimidation is created through the players (like Bryant), not the mascot.
Hopefully the same can happen here.

I am very much liking the rebrand and my experiences so far at the games, and watching from home with the GF are incredibly positive. We love Pierre and I think he will grow people

I love it. The colors, the awesome team name. Hopefully the eventual alternate jerseys arent too garish.
Only beef would be that the chest insignia is a little small, but that's an easy fix.
Overall, i think the rebrand, along with the young talent has increased interest in this team.
Grade: A

First off, love the rebrand...I think we have the best logo in the NBA. However, I would have changed these few things:
1. Crescent City Basketball circle would have been at center court
2. Paint would be blue, include lines around the box in gold, and the 3 point line would be blue.
3. I don't like the Fleur DE pel...looks forced
4. White jerseys would have blue trim around the neck and sleeves...blue jerseys would have gold trim around the sleeves.
5. New Orleans would be bigger on jersey and home jerseys would have Pelicans instead of NO
6 Pierre should be named Pistol and wear sunglasses

Sorry if you feel it was off-topic, I didn't think it was so. I won't further derail the thread, but my point is that we're to the point where the brand is just a slowly changing as others (they do and will change), so the opinions and time for comment (it's been close to a year) have lost most of their value. It's like wishing the sun to be a different color.
Everyone's opinion is their own, but the importance has shifted to the use, the gear, etc. People are buying, even those red jackets, which I totally do not get, so in that sense, it's a hit.
VoR, I learned it by watching you!

42 you should wear your Pellie gear to class during the week -mold those young minds into NOLA basketball fans.
Posted on 11/8/13 at 10:51 am to LasVegasBandit
I wear my Saints jersey when I teach on game day, which many staff members do (football jerseys generally), so its acceptable. My Pelicans shirt is too informal, and I don't do polos.
I talk basketball and sports to them, among other things to get them to think about statistics.
My TA is a Lakers fan. I got him to cover class today . . . load him up with work prior to the game.

Hahahaha
42, I do think the thread is asking for opinions on the rebrand, however ad nauseum, and is actually enough removed from all the original branding talk that it, along with the fact that our brand's national debut (so far in Memphis and Orlando) is really the only direct exposure NBA fans around the league have gotten thus far, is not off-topic.
I, personally, have heard what I feel to be practically every opinion that could be voiced re: the branding, but I think the apparel, arena, mascot, etc. "as of late" discourse along with the comprehensive opinions are justly condoned.
But back to the not getting off-topic--just wanted to let you know someone else didn't think this thread was pointless.

SO it is worse that clippers, lakers, Dolphins, blue jays, cardinals, white or red sox, Orieoles, Jazz (in utah)?
Its not about the name. Its about the team that wears it
