Thinking about flying in to see my cajun friend and harvest a white tail deer but he only hunts on public land. Thoughts on that...

As long as you have a license... its safe enough.

I won't get near it during any gun season for deer. Too many brush shooters.

Unless he has private land that is under his name, you have to get a deer license. It's probably gonna run you $36.00 for a 1 day hunt since you are non resident. Not to bad really. Hope this helps.

I plan on harvesting a white tail with my long bow. I've heard horror stories about teenagers and rednecks hunting with rifles on public land. I was aware of the license, thank you.

Why? you must purchase a deer license if you want to hunt on any land that isn't under your name.

Just wear orange. I wouldn't let someone else keep me out of the woods if it was my only choice.

wear hunter orange, which is required if it's gun season, and you should be ok

Wear orange during gun season brah. it's the law and it should keep you from getting killed.

I bowhunt on public land all the time. Not crazy about going during gun season, but have on accident(while duck or squirrel hunting), and never got shot at. I'd wear orange though.

Will you focus on his color first?

I'm from Mississippi. Here if it's your land it is not required to purchase a license. I assumed it applied to LA as well. My apologies.
