Maybe I need to watch more of Winston play. I just can't get over the throwing motion.

15th round pick of the Rangers. He was a strong football commit so mlb teams weren't going to waste a top pick on a guy that more than likely wouldn't sign.

If he's a "top draft pick" worthy talent, they take him higher than the 15th. He probably did slide some due to his FSU committ, but a top pick isn't falling 15 rounds. Not saying he isn't a solid baseball prospect but he isn't a top pick.

Jameis has the physical potential to be better than Luck.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Winston went to the Majors, though.

Let's be very clear here - Luck is a physical specimen.

is it really that bad? I hadn't really heard much criticism of it. matter of fact I read an article about how good he looks throwing the ball.

his ability to scan the field, and stay in the pocket to let things develop at such a young age is impressive. most of Jimbo's QBs take a few yrs to really hit their stride. this kid came out on fire.

Agree or disagree? Kid is going to win the heisman this year and win the next two championships before going #1.

I'll say this much. I can't recall a redshirt freshman QB being this polished in a long time.

Lets talk the about University and the teams that they play/played with. What is more impressive?

A redshirt freshman taking at team to #3 after taking over a team that has been to 31 straight bowl games and was ranked 10th with a 12-2 record in the previous year? (Winston)

or

A redshirt freshman who led a team to an 8-5 record and a #21 ranking (before the bowl) after the team hadn't gone to a bowl game in 8 years and had gone 10-26 in the previous 3 seasons?
Then in the next season led the team to a 12-1 record and a #4 finish(Luck).

People forget how awful Stanford was before Luck.

I never believed him to be a top 5 round guy coming out of high school but he was a top 10 round guy.

His 40 time has been clocked at a low of 4.78 and a high of 4.89.

His 60 time is around the 6.5 range

ETA: in baseball a guy selected in the top 10 rounds is usually considered a top pick

Only throws I've seen Winston make are deep balls and shorter, underneath routes.

Can he throw the 15-20 yd. out from one hash to another?

He throws all over the field. He's making all the throws. He is a nightmare to defend. Miami doesn't stand a chance.

That is because Luck put up some gaudy combine numbers that are official. I went back and looked at his official stats - bested Cam in the 3 cone and vertical jump, and was right there with him in the broad jump and shuttle.

Luck would house 60 yard runs and I haven't seen a cutup of Winston doing that. It's not to say that he couldn't because it may be by scheme but Luck ran the read option at 6'5" 240.

There is even a youtube video comparing Luck's 40 to Griffin's.

They didn't in 2012.

ETA: They technically did, but it didn't really matter like it does now.
