Lots of misinformation coming out in this thread, so a few comments.

Saban took over an LSU program that went 3-8 the year before and saw average home attendance drop to 56,000 per game. Businesses around LSU were suffering because of lack of enthusiasm for LSU football.

In Saban's second year, he won the SEC championship (first since 1986 for LSU) and the Sugar Bowl (first since 1968).

In 2002 he was 6-1 before Matt Mauck got hurt. Lost 4 of the next 6 after Mauck went down,

In 2003 he won the BCS championship with a healthy Mauck.

When he got to Alabama he won a NC in his third year and has won 3 in the last 4 years.

There is every reason to believe that had he stayed at LSU he would have won multiple NCs and LSU today would be as dominant as he has made Bama.

LSU was a dumpster fire when Saban got here and an elite program when he left. LSU has done well with Miles as coach, but Saban engineered the turn around.

You can't be serious if you actually want these guys to be a HC at LSU.

Richt has enough trouble remaining at Georgia.

Mack Brown? Really?

Will Muschamp? For a HC? Maybe a DC but not a HC.

Bob Stoops?

Look at Miles' record. And I understand that sometimes it's the way we win but we do win.

Do we lose games we shouldn't? Occasionally. Not often but it does happen.

Happens at every program. Look at your afore mentioned coaches, Brown, who has been terrible since Colt McCoy and he was just good enough when he had him, and that was in '09. And look at Bob Stoops.

I would've lost money on "who's going to win between Texas and OU."

It happens.

I couldn't care less about those two programs but the point I'm trying to convey is that stupid losses happen, not often, but they do.

The posters here are quick to hit the panic button and wig out but just relax. I understand it's easier said than done sometimes, I'm right there too occasionally.

Just one fellow's opinion.

1. Chip Kelly is no longer a College Football coach.

2. Jimbo Fisher is having a good season; it does not mean he is on the level of Nick Saban.

3. All these coaches you have listed have either won one National Title or not won at all besides Nick Saban.

4. Your whole way of thinking if a program is good or not is based off this season alone not past seasons.

5. If you look at the numbers, Les has arguably a better resume than all these other coaches.

6. This thread basically just compares Les to Nick Saban. And if you know anything about biology, Les is not Nick Saban!

That being said, Saban is the fricking man and we should have held onto him. He is even better than the Bear imnsho.
Skippy cheaped out and let him walk away to Miami. "Hey Wayne, just fly on in and sweep our coach off his feet. I'm not going to get into a bidding war with you or put up much of a fight to keep Nick. He's all yours. We wont have much of a problem fiding another coach of his calibur."

Wow dude. I can tell u really despise the football HC and the AD here at LSU.

U say all these other guys would do a better job than Miles? Really

We've heard how
1. Peterson (BSU) was the next great one
2. Petrino yep way better than Miles- Offensive Genius, right?)
3. Chip Kelly- didnt he quit? Who won that game?
4. Urban Meyer better SEC coach than Miles(invents an illness to quit this league u couldnt get him back in the SEC with a crowbar and 10 million)
5. Will Muschamp
6. Gene Chizik- he stole Travon Reed from stupid CLM)
7. Lane Kiffen ( darn those vols they beat us to the punch)
8. Bob Stoops
9. Mack Brown
10.Harbaugh( didnt he quit to NFL)
11. Kirk Ferentz
12. Gary Patterson
theres at least 10 more that we've heard how good they are and so much better than our guy.....

Pls forgive us if we dont consider your list of candidates as the Holy Savior of the LSU program.

I completely agree with this post. Les Miles if a great guy and a solid coach however, he is allowing the program to become average. I for one and not willing to accept average.

He needs to significantly improve or leave. It starts with recruiting. He has not gotten the job done in the past few years. Saban is scooping up in state talent which is unacceptable.

Les Miles' problem is Nick Saban. As long as Saban is around, our fans will compare the two and expect exactly the same program and results every year. Saban is an anomaly and as long as he's at Bama, Bama will be an anomaly. All the talk, threats to not go to games, sell your season tickets, etc... ain't changin' nothing. Get used to it until the dynasty ends. Every other school with money and good programs has to face it. Geez...

Please expound on just how we can steal more recruits from Saban since you're an expert. I want to know what you would do. Pay 'em?

There is nothing more disappointing than unfulfilled potential and...

This isn't the first time LSU has been in that boat. Saw you suffered under the 20 McClendon years - I did too. Sure, he was a great man and loved LSU, and I was sad when he was forced out. But with time and perspective I've come to see things differently. I can see now that with Bryant ensconced in Tuscaloosa, Mac was not the coach for LSU for most of those years. Likewise now with another great guy - Les Miles - in the shadow of Saban. Can another coach get Nick Saban's number? I don't know. But after 1/9, last year, and now this year, I'm pretty sure Les won't get it done for LSU with him and Bama on any satisfyingly competitive level.

yeah I know. We really are fricked now. And if you read anything yesterday, you'd know that motherf* aint leaving Bama until he's at a Tuscaloosa hosp with a cardiac infarction from over-work when he's 80 and Bama then has 25 natty's. We are screwed being in this conf/div ... really we are ... dammit, I wanna win NC! not the team that *could* beat these pretenders. Sorry guys but I want to win very badly. And it sucks we have better talent but we can't pull it off because we have retard admins, retard coaches, retard fans.

You really think we have better talent than Bama?
