2001 - Most Enjoyable Season

Excluding the results of the 2003 and 2007 seasons, 2001 has to be the most enjoyable LSU season I can remember. All of this program in decline talk and NC or disappoinment kind of makes me miss that year.
I just remember how much fun it was to finally make it to SEC GC. Rohan to Reed, D Davis returning punts. Losing to Ole Miss sucked, but the light came on after that game. Auburn game getting moved to first week in Dec to clinch the West, band and punter fight, storm the field. I'll never forget there was an LSU fan dressed like Santa Clause smoking a cigar, I talked to him for a few minutes on the field near the visitor side line. I hope you post on here.
Also LSU could have scored 100 in the Sugar Bowl against Illinois that year.
Its a shame that it's kind of impossible to enjoy and 8-3, SEC and Sugar Bowl Championship season anymore. It almost feels like you need a few loses to make the wins feel better.

2003 was the tits.

I think 2003 was the best. We didn't expect to be a champion, so the 1 loss wasn't the end of the world. The atmosphere at the UGA game is something I'll never forget.

Was an awesome season. First SEC championship I attended.
I think Reed is still catching passes on Illinois right now as I type this.

2003
2001
2011
2007 and 2006 were extremely frustrating with the close games.
2005. Great home schedule that year.

It's gotta be 2011 for me. That year was incredible. We ran everyone off the field.

2001 was great because two years prior LSU was 3-8. We didn't know what the new Coach Saban was actually going to do and having been through the 90's where LSU had 7 losing seasons that decade, everyone was extremely happy. We won the SEC and went to the Sugar Bowl and beat Illinois.
The athletic department wasn't gouging fans and moving every great game to a "neutral" site to supposedly make more money than at home, then. It's sad but I feel like LSU is now much like the government and can't stop from taking money from the fans and gives us shite for what they take.

The SECCG weekend in 2001 was so awesome. I was a freshman in high school and went with my dad. Watched LSU win their first championship game on Saturday then watched the Saints whoop the Falcons on Sunday. That game also featured Deuce McAllister's first NFL TD.

2011 was the best, most memorable. The year of the Honeybadger. Jarrett Lee getting Redemption, Miles getting the team fired up, beating everyone by 30..

2001 exercised a lot of demons for LSU football. Its too bad that the post 2007 children that refer to themselves as fans will never understand it.

2003 and 2001 were tops.
2011 was also really damn good until 1/9/12. We destroyed every team except GOTC1.
2007 was not enjoyable. Too many stressful games, and that feeling after the Arkansas game was pretty damn miserable.

Without a doubt it was 2011 for me. Even though I was a student, instead of getting slammed before every game I would take advantage of general admission. I had amazing seats the entire year, and watched us dismantle anyone that tried to step on the field with us. People can look back on that season with negativity, but it was a fun year.

I'll agree with 2001. The highlight of that year to me was beating Tenn in the SECCG. That team had heart and guts in spades, and it was a real pleasure to watch.

I loved the 2001 CCG. The media kept drumming up the imminent Canes/UT matchup and eventually Fulmer got caught up in that also. Afterwards "Well, we didn't tackle very well, block very well, pass very well..." Yeah, that's called getting beat Phil.

the seccg was pure magic

Still say the 2001 SEC Champ game was the most fun I've ever had at an LSU game. Things are just different now. In some ways it was kind of fun when the expectations weren't so high.
And who can forget all the Tennessee fans with orange roses. They were strewn all over the floor of the Georgia Dome after the game.

Agreed. If you recall, back in 2001 the SEC West was insane, during preseason you could make a solid argument for each team winning the west.
But after losing to Ole Miss, did anyone expect us win the SEC, and win the Sugar Bowl? I agree, it was the most enjoyable season. Of course, it was my senior year at LSU so I might be biased.
