That's a great idea, but when you merge the schools what are you going to do with the politically connected toadies currently running the place? You think the politicians are going to let their cronies thrown out on the street?

My understanding has always been that GSU and Southern bought air time on NBC for the Bayou Classic.... makes sense... why else would they broadcast it?

Played wideout in hs and center in flag football. Can do both if needed.

If Ralph Slaughter didn't end up in jail for any of the crap he pulled at Southern, I doubt that anything happens criminally with the Grambling admin.

latest info - 22 players showed up to go to Jackson, thats not enough so they had to forfeit.
Grambling is paying a $20,000 fine to JSU
Grambling said they aren't going to revoke scholarships
Although Grambling said the SWAC said it was a "no contest", the SWAC called bullshite and told them its a Forfeit.

Is Grambling looking for replacement players?
I'd like to say I played D1 football.

22 players showed up? Send them to Jackson and let them play soccer.

probably just wanted to play football. maybe they aren't drama queens like the rest of the team and are grateful for the opportunity to play the game they love for 4 years while receiving an education for free. maybe they see the value, maybe the others do not.

So they should let the administration walk all over and treat them like crap all the while they are living it up? At least in most there is some sense of equity on how the players are treated.

That $20k fine is going to be a pisser for the athletic department.
I seriously doubt the savings caused by all the bullshite they pulled with the weight room floor, meals, and transportation is enough to cover this, even before someone pocketed some of the difference.

It appears Tavis Smiley is correct, Obamanomics is hitting the folks who elected him.
Quote:
"Since 2007-08, overall state funding for Grambling has gone from $31.6 million to $13.8 million. The school has attempted to bridge that gap by increasing tuition, but it has fallen short, and cuts have been made across the board. Approximately 127 staff members have been laid off since 2008 and furloughs are common. Professors have also been asked to teach an extra class each year for free. Generally, the school has "cut to the bone," says Leon Sanders, Grambling's vice president for finance.
Athletics were mostly exempt from the cuts in the first few years of the recession, even as revenue generated by the department declined from around $8 million in 2007-08 to about $6.2 million last year. But that was unsustainable, school officials say. Like the rest of the university, the athletic department had to make sacrifices, and the sports programs are now feeling the pinch that the rest of the school has endured for years."

So you're saying this is Obama's fault?
