The SWAC and it's school need to go away anyway, they are outdated and a money pit

I'm thinking the appeal of playing on national TV would win out there.
They should have the battle of the bands go on for 3 hours, I would probably watch then.

Former coach Doug Williams, who was fired from his position on Sept. 11, said in a text to USA TODAY Sports on Friday, "I'm proud of them boys. They took a stance."
Pogue and athletics director Aaron James had said during a Friday morning news conference they expect the team to play Saturday at Jackson State.
"We're going to Jackson and we're going to play Jackson State for their homecoming," said Pogue, who added he would be in the stands Saturday night.

The public appearance was Pogue's first since Williams was fired.
"We support our team when we are losing and when we are winning," Pogue said. "Our goal right now is to move forward with our academic and our athletic program. We support our men on and off the field."
Pogue's comments come amid a tumultuous week for the football program when the players walked out on a Tuesday meeting with administration, boycotted two days of practice, then witnessed interim coach George Ragsdale removed from his post.
Defensive coordinator Dennis "Dirt" Winston has been named head coach for now.
"I don't see the players as being in control," Pogue said when discussing the events of this past week, including the team's walkout Tuesday. " I have never lost control of an institution."

Just read the short snip on cbs sports, so the President fired the coach one week, an assistant a few weeks later, and the "new" interim HC this week.
That President is a fool.
That President is a fool.

I have never seen anything like this. Forfeiting a college football game has major consequences. Somebody owes Jackson St a ton of money.
What about the rest of the season? What about next year? How do you restart a program after this?

Louisiana legislature met back after the recession to discuss Louisiana education. The schools need to be consolidated, they refused to do it and now the weakest will rot until they are consolidated.

I think if you polled the tax payers of Louisiana, they would say you don't.

If their claims are right - no meals at times - they're right to strike - and more.

Regardless of what any of us think, it is a sad story for the athletes. They shouldn't have to put up with the university's shite. But sadly they will probably have the scholly's revoked. This whole university is fricked up.

JUDGE TELLS LOUISIANA UNIVERSITIES TO CONSOLIDATE
Louisiana's historically black state colleges must swallow their fears of losing their separate identity under a court-ordered plan aimed at wiping out vestiges of segregation, a federal judge says.
U.S. District Judge Charles Schwartz ordered consolidation of the state's 20 public colleges and universities this week."Simply put, the dubious ideal of `separate but equal,' whether endorsed by whites or blacks, is an anachronism that our society no longer tolerates," he said.
The ruling came 18 years after the Justice Department sued to desegregate Louisiana's public colleges and universities more thoroughly.
Schwartz did not close any colleges but gave the state 60 days to disband and consolidate Louisiana's four higher education boards into one "superboard."
Decades after segregation was outlawed, the schools remain largely segregated by tradition.
Southern University and Grambling State, which are predominantly black, objected vehemently to plans to merge the systems after Schwartz imposed a nearly identical order in 1989.
The black schools said they need to remain separate to nurture black students but need extra money to recover from generations of discrimination.
They also objected to Schwartz's designating Louisiana State University the state's flagship university, saying it amounted to official second-rate status for predominantly black schools.
Schwartz also ordered an end to Louisiana's tradition of letting anyone with a high school diploma get into college. The top universities must impose admission standards and abolish remedial classes.

That is the least of Grambling's problems, it's not even a football issue

Reading through the SI article, I don't blame the players.
Does Grambling not have alumni who could donate for facility updates?

If you read the article, no one donates to the university. The school budgets ZERO dollars for donations. Best if they just shut the entire school down and convert it into a trade school.

Alums did donate. Williams used the funds to buy flooring for the weight room. Athletic administration got mad because they couldn't take their cut of the money.
The money issue is that there are people stealing appropriated funds.

It's Jackson St's homecoming. If I were them I would sue Grambling for all they have....$36.59.

ONe of the few things that I agreed with Jindal on was the consolidation of UNO and SUNO....the only history SUNO has is that it was set up by segregationists. But don't blame this entirely on the AA community...the UNO people didn't want it either. If you qualify for UNO, you go to UNO...if you don't, go to Delgado for 2 years, make the grades, take some remedials, and then transfer in. UNO is hemorrhaging students, and this would be best for both. And Grambling should merge with Tech or ULM.
