Planning a 10 year anniversary trip in July. Any recs are greatly appreciated. Neither of us have ever been.

My advice was way better. It'll be hot as frick and too close to what he already has access to, albeit KW is a large step up from the MS coast.

Telluride.
I lived there for a summer back in the day and it is amazing place. You can't count the number of waterfalls in walking distance on both hands. 10 steps off of the road and you're in nowhere, hike over the first ridge in any direction and it's breathtaking. Fields of flowers and...oh frick it...KW will be great too.

Thank you for your advice as well. Key west better fits our personality I think. I do appreciate the advice though
I like it hot--the hotter the better for me

Telluride.
i've been. really nice, but it isn't easy to get to and tough for a 3 day trip. I had an uncle that lived in Durango so we took a day trip to Telluride.

considering the time of year is "off time" you can probably get some good deals on sites like expedia.

FYI Key West doesn't have much at all for beaches but is still a wonderful trip. S.O. and I went in 2010 and stayed at the Casa Marina Waldolf Astoria which has it's own private beach. I think it's one of the nicest hotels on the island. As far as food, we went back a couple times to a Mexican restaurant called Salsa Loca. We ate at a bunch of other restaurants which were all hit or miss. Rent a scooter/moped to tour the island. You really get that island feel riding around on one of those.

Beaches kind of suck in Key West. Basically all man made.

clear water.
Definitely have that though. Best in the continental US for sure.

Cork is much less high maintenance than my wife. Last year was our tenth and I spent 18 days driving all the frick over France.

At least the car was a stick shift.
I just kept going around the traffic circles until my wife figured out in which direction we should go. It was hairball driving on the coast too.

Not on my bucket list at all
Didn't realize that about the beaches. I still think he will love the idea. He will be super excited that I am even considering going some place like that. He probably thinks the farthest I would go is new orleans. I very rarely leave the kids but I recognize this is an important anniversary and want to treat it as such.

You will have fun, Key west is a very cool place. Unless your husband is homophobic.
