i was actually mostly doing the head nod and real cheer for my time at LSU (maybe I'm lame, just didn't see the need for anything else. However, in the past few years, I have found some enjoyment or more fascination in them (and I know I don't know them all). It was really "Neck" that got me into it, cause I love that song so much.

It would have worked for me too (at anything) - if the team got together for a fundraiser and asked for the student bodies support and attention, etc.... whatever - to have one of the best programs in the US ask you to do or not do something, i would definitely pause and give concern.

I guarantee one thing about our students. We love Les Miles. He's our crazy grandpa. If grandpa doesn't like something, you're going to hesitate to do it. Especially with him there (or on the sideline in this case)
Just think, if Les was to come out personally and voice his displeasure over it, and a student STILL insists on chanting "suck that tiger dick", what does that mean? The student is doing exactly the opposite of what Les wants and therefore, he'll be the one getting strange looks.
It may sound like an elementary idea, but I really think it would work.

That could be useful. I don't think a lot of people, i.e. most of the students, understand what the effect of STTDB is. If they were actually told "hey, it's really uncool and gets songs banned etc.", it would likely cut down on the number of people who chant.
I don't know whether the AD would actually get around to it though...

Ban the student section for the Furman game.
Every time they yell STTDB after that, they lose a game. Tix sold to public for regular price.
That should take care of the problem.

My only issue is STTDB is so incredibly lame. I just feel like the student section should be more clever.

This crap is embarrassment to the school and the student body. Doing a better job of screening for drunks and alcohol when entering the stadium would probably help cut down on this idiotic behavior somewhat. It would sure make it a more fun experience for many others.

maybe this is why the students leave the game so early having the band playing songs like neck all of the lights keeps them in the stadium.

Seeing that "all of the lights" has been played very recently, you're going to need to find another excuse as to why the student section is 2/3 full for the 4th quarter.

Excellent idea. Now how exactly is LSU going to sell the tickets while people will be giving away tickets outside the stadium for free before kickoff?

Tiger Stadium is a shell of its former self living off of the legend of years past. Even our own fans want to get rid of the student section and make the place even more corporately canned than it already is. I guarantee that opening up those seats to the public would not lower ticket costs one cent. LSU would be happy to line their pockets even more if they had the chance. Then people will really be looking around wondering where the noise and mystique of TS went.
