Hagler vs hearns was the greatest action packed
Mano a mano
That was insane. If Hearns could take a punch, he would've dominated the boxing scene back then.

Hearns may not have had a jaw of granite, but he proved that his jaw wasn't made of glass in the Hagler fight, as most fighter wouldn't have made it to the third round.

Hearns also had a perpetually tender right hand, which he broke a time or two, as I remember. Could throw bombs when he was right, though.

I agree with this. He was a beast.

Watched it on pay per view or whatever it was called back then.
The fight was shown live on closed-circuit television at 345 locations in the United States and Canada.

Roberto Duran at lightweight is IMO top-5 P4P fighter all time.
People sometimes don't realize that they weren't watching the best Roberto Duran when he was in the ring with guys like Leonard, Hearns and Hagler. Duran wasn't quite the same when he moved up in weight.
But at lightweight, Duran was a bad, bad man.
and while we're on this era of 80s greats....one hypothetical matchup I would love to see and rarely gets mentioned is Carlos Monzon-Marvin Hagler at middleweight. What a fight that would have been. I'd wanna see this over Marciano-Ali, Tyson-Ali, Mayweather-Pacquiao, etc.

Sugar Ray was in such ridiculous shape for that fight. It was almost like Bruce Lee had possessed his body.

THIS!
It's sad, to me at least, that 'No Mas' and later events came to overshadow Duran's early dominance. He was so awesome to watch.

Ray was on a mission after the previous loss to Duran! Duran knew he could now win!

I thought it was about Jadeveon Clowney's Jr. Season

Great memories of when boxing/fighting was in it's hey-day.
I wrestled in high school back then, way before it became the 'rasslin' joke it is today, and the training was serious shite. 1st period my junior year of HS was simply running the entire hour. Later, we'd have practice, which was twice as exhausting. By far the most taxing athletic endeavor I'd ever taken.
No Mas kinda reminds me of just what it takes to compete at that level. Fond memories.
I was pulling for Duran the whole way. I kinda resented Sugar Ray for his brashness and natural born athletic gifts and wanted the grinder, Duran, to whip his arse, which he did the first fight.
