Hate to see injuries but as an Eagles fan, anything that happens to that bandwagon, slimy franchise is good in my book.

Interesting line from the most recent PFT article on this story:
Could the Falcons potentially be in the position to replace all three of their top pass-catchers after this season?
I know that a lot of Falcons fans have tossed the idea of blowing it all up around, and they had expressed concern of how to pay for Julio and defensive players while still paying Ryan's contract, but I don't think that anyone conceived that this would be a possibility.
NB: I'm not saying that they will or even should get rid of Jones. I'm just saying that it is a potential situation that has to be part of the thought process of their management.

The injury comes at an inopportune time for Jones personally. He’s eligible for a new contract after the 2013 season. The Falcons may now be inclined to wait until they know he’ll be the same guy that he was, after surgical repair of his foot.

All you Saints fans can suck a dick. Its cool, we have accepted this season is a lost cause in Atlanta. Just know that next year we WILL win the Superbowl.
How? Your best player is a QB on the level of Tony Romo, maybe worse

No Julio, way in the hole to even make Playoffs, sucky Roddy, no real threats to catch balls sans a double-teamed 37 yr old TE in Tony Gonzalez..
Really hope Atlanta shows some class in a few weeks when they're officially done, and trades him to a Sea or Den, getting a lil' something in return, because to have just watched Tony Gonzalez on E:60, you'd really want to see him get a SB ring.

frick that noise!
Atlanta has to at least perform their due diligence prior to resigning Jones. They COULD let him test the market while signing/drafting defensive and OL help. Yes, it's a risk, but then again so would signing him to an extension without knowing his condition after this surgery.
Jones is freak of an athlete, so he SHOULD recover, but then you never truly know until the opening whistle. At the same time, any other team who would potentially sign him has to have the same concerns.

If they wouldn't have given up all the draft picks they might have just a little depth...

Julio is not an UFA after this year.

Yes but they have depth issues in part because they gave up too much for Julio in the draft. They overpaid for the Ryan extension and need a long term answer at RB besides Rodgers. There is only so much salary cap money.

What does that have to do with Julio testing the market?
