It's frightening knowing how strings can be pulled so easily like that. It's all in who you know amirite?

I have been disappointed this season until this episode. The final scene was a punch in the gut.
Missing Harrow, but the wait is usually worth the payoff.
Anyone notice the empty space behind the actors in several scenes, where the actor was positioned to the far side of the shot? Kinda added to the "Nucky doesn't have your back feel", which makes me wonder if Eli's boy will get wacked.

This is a make or break episode for me. I'm actually pretty close to pulling the plug. Some of the story lines this season just don't interests me. I want more of the power play.
yeah i think this season just isn't capturing my interest. the show is just getting kind of repetitive
this show is one that probably should have only had a 2-3 season arc
the nephew killing a guy may be the point where this jumped the shark
however, while watching last night and thinking about the first 3 seasons, this show is just as good as breaking bad
...goes to duck

I noticed this as well, whenever there was only one actor in a shot they would have him off center. I'm sure its some sort of directing technique, I just found it weird that they would start doing it in the middle of the 4th season.
I thought maybe they had a new director for this episode, but it was Terry Winter, who has directed almost every episode.

Don't see one tonight.
I usually start it but I've been out of town and didn't get to watch it until just now.
Was interesting to get that background on Eddie before he took his flight (hell of a way to go BTW). Never would've imagined him fricking around on his wife and disgracing his family. I suppose that's why he had always felt he had to be so loyal towards Nucky. Gonna miss that German bastard.
Hated to see Al's brother go too. Seemed like the level headed one of the bunch. Definitely makes you wonder had he lived if he would've been the Capone figurehead. Of course good money says our favorite Florist made the "phone call" that Cicero police couldn't be trusted. Ready to see Van Alden go HAM.
Kind of sad that people are actually contemplating "pulling the plug" on this show. It's easily one of my Top 5 right now. And it's always built up like this early on.

Meh. It'll probably be integral to how stable Eli and Nucky's relationship remains. When Eli finds out, because we all know eventually he will, just how thick will the "blood" remain? Especially when it's pretty clear Nucky wants Eli's son to finish college for a reason. There's far bigger plans in this then what we're seeing IMO.

Yeah, no doubt Nucky recognized a bit of himself in his nephew when he brought up being pissed about the kid he killed acting better than him. Plus Nucky bringing up how he changed his plans because the Commodore needed him, definitely an implication that Nuck was going to be raising him to be his successor.
This season hasn't be quite on par with the last two (about even with the first), but that was a great episode. Gonna miss Eddie.

I can't remember, but is he going to Temple for law? Would be interesting if Nucky is making that push to have someone in the family as a lawyer.

agreed. Been one of the best seasons so far.

Seriously? How have you gotten this far into the series and not understand that the second half of the season is always when the story lines pick up.
No shite. You made it through the terribleness of season 2. Watched the glory of season 3, but can't stick through season 4?
Hell, so far, i'm calling it one of the best seasons. Dormatie's mom needs to die off, because she's aggravating, but other than that, this whole season is great.

In reality.

Although Al was prone to violence, Frank was reportedly considered much worse. Whereas Al usually wanted to negotiate, Frank opted to use violence immediately, explaining that, "You never get no back talk from a corpse."

I'm anxious, and hoping they show the callamarese war and the rise of Luciano. I find the Luciano/Capone story lines more interesting than the others. Though i do like me some Van Alden now.

Could have sworn I saw Tim van Patten's name during the credits.

I agree, for me, boardwalk empire is the best TV show ever made. Better than BB and better than the wire. This season has really stepped the game up. It is brilliant.
