New Orleans Pelicans guard Eric Gordon is not likely to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Houston Rockets because coach Monty Williams wants him to gradually build up his conditioning.

``If I had to put a time on it, I would say in another two weeks he’ll be ready to play in a game,'' Williams said after Monday's first opening training camp practice.

Gordon underwent surgery on his left ankle in May, but during Monday's media day he deemed himself healthy and ready to participate in training camp. `` I don’t want him to get out there and try to go full bore and pull a hamstring or something,'' Williams said. ``He hasn’t been going as long as the other guys have (with offseason conditioning work).''

If this leads to another "out indefinitely" on opening day I'll probably end up banned

I like the question of the day better....

Which player should the Pelicans start at center?
Greg Stiemsma, Jeff Withey and Jason Smith will battle for the spot.

For someone that wants out of New Orleans so bad, wouldn't it make sense at some point to show other NBA teams what there getting. I get he never wanted to be a Hornet/Pelican but this is getting ridiculous. Show up and ball out and then the Hornets can at least get something in return for this malcontent.
