The Key to the game this weekend: John Chavis

I really think both offenses are set up to do well. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the game is a little bit lower scoring than people are guessing. I don't think either team gets to 40 and I think only one get's over 30.
It's time for Chavis to remind us why he's still the #1 DC in the land. He may not have the horses we're accustomed to but if he's good, which I know he is, he'll find a way to play classic LSU D with the players we'll have on the field. If Chief can out-scheme uga and our players limit big plays or key conversions. I think we'll win and in the process prove we're the better overall team. LSU 31-20.

Mostly agree. I think the D will step up to the challenge and play well. I think Georgia keeps the total yardage numbers closer than the score will reflect.

Let's make this thread another 500000000000 this week.

Turnovers will be key.
Win the TO battle and we win the game.
We have yet to play a game without a TO.

It isn't always about scheme. Sometimes it is simply the ability to execute.

John Chavis has always had a good gameplan for UGA back to his days at Tennessee.

when your experience is video games, it's all about the scheme. variations in human performance do not occur. the scheme is important(due to created mismatches) but human performance IS the key to victory.

I think the Weather is going to help our Defense. The Temperature of 77F and lower Humidity should help the Defense stay fresher longer. I look for the Defense to play a big game!!!

I think this is true for every game we play.

Well, he better be more prepared than last year. Georgia passed all over us. If they catch a few of the dropped balls from last year, they beat us.

Disagree, if this were being played in Death Valley maybe so but being played in Athens I don't agree with you. No matter what anyone things Aaron Murray is a good QB who is very seasoned and playing at a high level right now. You couple that with Gurley & Marshall and that is a combination for scoring a lot of points. If our front 7 were playing better against the run than they have these past 4 games I would have agreed with you, but they haven't. If Gurley & Marshall start to rack up 5 yd averages on their runs like Mason & Payne did that is going to set up Murray for his play action passing and he is not Nick Marshall he will hit those passing plays.
Plus you add the fact that this is being played between the hedges and this is going to be a shoot out with UGA scoring over 30 points so we are going to have to do the same to win.
We will see who is right and I hope I am wrong but the way our D has been playing the past 4 games, I don't see LSU's D holding UGA's offense under 400yds and 30pts.

When was he the #1 DC in the land?

We didn't play Georgia last year. If you are thinking about 2011, we beat them 42-10 so I think they needed a little more than a few dropped balls to beat us.
Speaking of that score....is Georgia that much better on offense that they score much more than 10? Are we much worse on defense to allow them much more than 10?
I think we can all agree that we are much better on offense than we were then. Taking away the punt return TD and Claiborne's pick six..... Can we expect more than 28 points over a Georgia defense that may not be as good as it was in 2011?

execution
no turnovers
Ball control with Hill and keep Gurley/Murray off the field

I would argue we are considerably worse on defense this year than in 2011. That defense held Alabama to 6 points. There's no way this year's defense could come close to that kind of performance.
That being said, I agree with your logic. I think our offense has improved more than our defense has declined, and I don't think UGA is all that different. Their defense is probably worse and their offense is probably better with the addition of Gurley.

good point. I think that it might actually apply since our rotation isn't quiet where it usually is at this point in the season.
Hopefully it will help in the trenches when it counts in the 4th qtr and the QBs are looking to be clutch in crunch time.
Then again, hopefully we will be blowing them out.

Chavis' unit gave up an average of 21 pts to Richt's teams at UGA while at Tennessee
While at LSU he has only faced them twice and gave up 10 and 13 in those two.
LSU needs to strike early and silence the crowd...nothing better to do that then a 3 and out from our defense and then drive it down on theirs for a clock eating TD drive.

Chavis earns his money this week. Gotta stop or slow down the Georgia running game. Also Aaron Murray can do damage to our secondary as well. UGA poses quite the challenge...
