Georgia - LSU comparisons by unit

How do we stack up against the Dawgs by unit? What positions are they playing new starters? I know their defense was full of NFL guys last year who left but the defense was not great.

Clemson scored 38 against UGA, and only 26 against NC State. USCe scored 30 against UGA, and only 27 against UNC. The Gamecocks only scored 35 against Vandy at home, just five more than at UGA. North Texas scored as many points against UGA as they did against Ohio U.
None of the teams UGA has played has a defense or a special teams the caliber of ours. And only Clemson's offense is anywhere near LSU's.
You might be surprised to learn that LSU is scoring more PPG than Clemson, 40.3 to 38.6.
And yes, Clemson has played more name opponents, but not necessarily better defenses. UGA's defense is 85th in points given up, NC State's is 42nd.
TCU is 62nd in points given up, Auburn is 51st.
Didn't bother with the cupcakes for either.

We win the long snapper battle

Transitive property works so well

I don't think I have watched UGA more than the first half of the NT game. I might watch their USC game to get a better feel for it because I am a little worried about this one

It's actually a consistent trend...

It's obvious that we got caught looking ahead to this game. And our special teams really screwed us over both resulting in instant TDs

Transitive does work ! I used it to tell everyone Notre Dame was grossly over ranked and Bama would crush them. It worked I mean the theory

UGA posters are defending in Rant threads this week better than their defense has.

I have no problem with UGA fans taking up for their team. Good on 'em!

That wasn't the transitive theory. YOu only needed functioning vision to predict the outcome of that game.

Yikes. Can't believe you spent time to type that out.

Yes, no LSU coach or savvy fan think otherwise.
Is UGA a powerhouse on D - Probably not.
Will UGA play stronger on D this Saturday, Probably so.
Will it be enough to hold LSU to less that 35 points - Not likely.
As such, I predict
LSU 42
UGA 34

Curious as to which part you object to. And why.

Not a bad analysis, but I still think you can throw it out the window for a game like this. UGA was going through the motions vs. North TX. We just don't know what UGA team will show up. The defense will give up points to the Tigers, but the offense is very hard to stop for very long. I can see a back and forth game.

You're just stating things in a way attempting to make UGA worse than they really are, and LSU better than they are. Let me try the same thing
UGA has a top 6 SOS of schedule while LSU is in the mid 60s and they average over 90 more yards per game than LSU.
UGA has gained at least 536 yards in each game, while LSU has only gained more than 460 once in 4 games.
TCU scored 17 more points on LSU than they did against Texas Tech
UAB had over 50 more rush yards and a higher YPC against LSU than they did against Troy. UAB outrushed LSU that game as well.
Mett only has 2 TDs and 1 int combined against the two best defenses LSU has faced. He also has a 55% completion percentage in those games. Murray had 4 TDs and was 17-23 against USC, a better defense than either TCU or AU.
Mett has a 28% completion percentage in the Redzone. Murray has a 69% completion percentage in the Redzone.
Kent State scored 13 on LSU, 17 on Liberty, and were shut out by Penn State. Based on this logic LSU's defense is comparable to Liberty and worse than Penn State's D.
LSU hasn't played a true road game yet.
I could of made this list a lot longer, but point is it's easy to pull out random stats from random games and make them look worse or better than they are.

Mine weren't "random stats" though. The unit rankings I posted are from the SEC and ESPN.
LSU ranks higher on offense, defense, and special teams than anyone UGA has played to date. One of only eight teams in the country who has never trailed in a game...unlike any team UGA has yet to face.
I'd didn't add, but I could have, that LSU also wins the battle in turnover margin. I didn't think it was necessary.

Your first line was just giving how many points UGA's opponents scored against UGA, compared to how much they scored in other games, not taking into account the situation of each of those games (USC didn't need to keep scoring against Vandy or NC to win, but we did against UGA).
And by "random" I just meant only posting the stats that favor LSU over UGA, I wasn't saying they weren't true.
There's a very high chance that the overall stats of UGA and LSU would look completely different if the they traded schedules for the first 4 weeks of the season. It's tough to compare the stats of a team that has played 2 top ten teams vs. a team that hasn't hasn't played a team that is currently ranked.

So we prolly win by 17 right? Ok, that is what I thought.
