re: Saints D ranked 9th after 2 games

We always said we had the players for a 3-4, but we were running the wrong scheme.
I hate saying it, but old stalwarts like Smith and Vilma getting hurt made our D better. Payton would have made sure the saw the field, and we all know how Smith would have fared. Yikes.
It feels good to have a respectable D again. It's been a long time.

guys like Hicks, Vacarro, Jordan, etc. are the new era on defense.

At the very least, had Smith stayed healthy, we wouldn't have gone after Haralson probably.
Man, I still can't believe we only gave up a 7th round pick.

You big dummy.
Sure Martin got a good bit on the ground. We had 3 d-linemen for most of the game. Jenkins and Hicks played something like 85% and 90% of the defensive snaps respectively, which is an insane amount for guys their size. That was the only part of their offense that was working, and it didn't start working till the second half when fatigue was setting in.
Still, we forced two turnovers, which the offense did absolutely nothing with. They surrendered one TD on a short field after an int. Galette stayed home on that last defensive snap and made sure Brees had the chance to make a last minute drive.
Out of all the dumbass shite you said, this part was probably the dumbest.
You big dummy. They're the reason we're 2-0 and not 0-2. Dumbass.

I don't know if it's your deliver or the Les Miles picture, but you always make me laugh.

We should get better as we get our DTs and Tez back healthy. PRob kinda hurts though.

Absolutely, but with the pressure the front 7 is generating, it helps our secondary immensely

Robinson, Coleman, Vilma, Smith all out. Saints just beat 2 division rivals. They are getting sacks, they are getting turnovers, they are getting stops when they need them. What on earth is there to complain about??
Doug Martin is one of the hottest running backs in the league, he's going to shred everybody he plays. Jets run D was for real, they've slowed Martin and Ridley. I'd give Martin 500 yards if it meant the boys in black pull out the W.
If you thought the Saints D was going to magically transform into the 49ers or Seahawks, you're really ignorant. Those powerhouses didn't happen overnight. That took years of careful planning, drafting, and savvy FA signing - all things the Saints had not done prior to this offseason.

You're dealing with a guy that thinks the devil put all of those dinosaur bones in the ground as a test of faith.
So, don't bother.

Yea but if you even thought of mentioning that around here on the night he got hurt then you "didn't appreciate" the superbowl win, or some dumb shite.

So, P Rly is on record that if our D winds up allowing 5 1/2 yards per carry the rest of the season we're all good with that - k? Wow!

We aren't facing Doug Martin this week, we are facing Mendenhall. If he gashes us, then be worried. Our d-line has been as impressive as any this season, so far. I highly doubt that you expected the defense to do anything this season, so you should be happy with the production we've all seen thus far. They are playing mean and aggressive, something we haven't seen in a while. This team in general just looks so different from that shite show last season, they look confident they will win.
What should really give you a boner is the fact that the offense has yet to really catch their stride. The defense has basically won it for the team the last two weeks. They gave the offense a chance with a minute Sunday, and Brees proved why he is an all-time great. The Saints have won their first two games, and more importantly, first two division games. There is plenty to be excited about. Stop raining on the parade.

We're facing a team that went 1/11 on 3rd downs last week!

Do you even give rational thought to that?
I'm not trying to start a stupid cyber-war. That's for kids. I'm a Saints fan but not a HOMER.

As previously stated there is definitely room for optimism. I expected the D to be as good as any Rob Ryan D anywhere else. Thanks for attempting to know what I think.

I'm lovin' that.

You DO realize this D is allowing more yards per rush than the D that was the worst in NFL history a year ago, don't you?
You are correct there is plenty to be excited about - it's not a total package yet though. When we get there I'll get the stiffy you already have.
