Tre'Davious White left the game and didn't come back. Is he going to practice this week?
COACH MILES: Absolutely. He won't miss practice. We wanted to see what he was like as a starter and really gave him his snaps early and made a number of tackles, played well, very aggressive. Really we went to another corner and we think we'll be fine there. He was a little nicked, but not something that will miss a practice.

I was wondering why he never returned. I always get extremely anxious when Miles says a player is "nicked."

Goodbye collins.

Why do you feel the need to make this about Collins instead of White?

Collins has done nothing but play hard as far as I can tell. If White has stepped up and earned a spot, I think it says more about White than Collins.

I don't think Collins has the hips to play slot I could be wrong though.

I agree. He is a bigger corner, suited more to the outside. He has been beat out for that role. I would rather see Dwayne Thomas in the slot than Jalen Collins.

Jalen Collins will not play slot. He will battle Thomas for the dime package however. As in Thomas inside with mills/white on the edges, or white/mills inside and Collins and white/mills on the edge. This scenario is assuming Eugene stays at nickel back role rather than safety in this package. If Eugene is full time safety I predict mills and Collins outside with white and Thomas inside until RR is ready to take over for Collins.

Didn't most people on here pick Collins as a sleeper pick to have a breakout season?

I thought his breakout year was last year. He had a great year. I posted that I doubted one of the freshmen would beat him out, and if one did, we had an All American on our hands. I stand by my evaluation. Collins makes an NFL roster, and TW is AA before it's over.

This is spot on. Probably Collins on the outside in nickle, and TW moves to slot. Dude is slicker than owl shite. Perfect nickle guy.

'Nother thin - Eugene subs in at safety in nickle if he's not there already in base.

Collins is the softest DB we got. Our DB's are expected to be able to fly around and hit people. Collins was a decent fill in but he needs to be on the bench.

Agree with you Penrod. Just think the ultimate dime by years end would be: FS-Eugene, SS-Loston, nickel-white, dime-Thomas, edge corners-mills and Collins/Robinson. If Martin starts to play to his potential then have him at FS and slide Eugene to nickel and white to dime for Thomas.

agreed.

Collins had/has his weaknesses, White's strengths just have more upside in coaches eyes, despite youth.

LSU's corners are, and always have in Chavis era, expected to play alot of 1-on-1. They see something in White in regards to this.

And note, our safeties aren't held to the old maxim of "never let them get deeper than you". So an LSU DB will have to fight on the line, down the field, and in the air. Don't expect help. Takes something special mental for that. I do believe that's the "aggressiveness" CLM mentioned.
