Missed the Eagles and skins game last night. How did Kelly''s offense look?

Thanks.

Think Texas A&M last year (against good teams). First half of the game, very good. Second half of the game, very meh.
Redskins kept turning the ball over early in the game, so the Eagles basically got 5 possessions in a row before Washington even really got going on offense.

couple of different formations, like the six WR set was pretty interesting to see. Faster tempo than normal, they were not letting the play clock get into single digits.
O line still needs some work though

I didn't watch every play, but looked like a gimmick that won't last the full season.
Some things of note:
Eagles got a ton of plays in, but the Redskins offense was awful. Probably a mix of the Eagles tempo and the way the 'Skins played.
Eagles did get in a number of big plays, and got ahead 33-7.
Vick, McCoy and Jackson had big numbers.
'Skins defense looked tired at times.
BUT:
Vick got hit a number of times. McCoy looked to cramp up at one point.
As stated, Philly got out 33-7, but the pace allowed Washington to come back. Take away the safety and failed 2 pt conversion, and we might have seen overtime (Skins also got stopped on downs).
There's only 53 players, so both teams tire in a gameplan like this. Allowing Vick to be hit so many times doesn't look good for the season. Watch for more teams to focus on popping the QB on that read-option, and reduce Vick's effectiveness for the later parts of the game (and maybe for the rest of the season).

Offense looked great. They just took their foot off the gas up 33-7. I doubt that happens again

Eagles played predominantly out of the shotgun. Fast paced and the defense was spread wide.
McCoy should have a career year. Open field type runs at the line of scrimmage with the defense so spread.
Pass protection was iffy, a couple of drives stalled when the eagles oline didn't block/touch Kerrigan or other dline.
The Kelly philosophy is sound. Opposing teams will have concerns with the fast pace and the inability to sub, so expect alot of injuries. a couple of drives interrupted by the defense faking injuries.
Second half the eagles got complacent and looked a little winded themselves.

I don't think it will work over a 16-game schedule. Vick and McCoy were very tired and beat up at the end of the game. In a spread offense the QB and the HB will run the ball almost every play.
McCoy got 31 carries, and backup Bryce Brown got 9 carries. This needs to be more of a 23/17 split IMO going forward if they want to keep him healthy for 16 games.
Vick carried the ball 9 times, which is actually pretty high in the NFL. He was slow to get up a few times. I don't know if there's a solution here because Vick loves to leave the pocket and scramble. Then add in the 2-4 times a game where he keeps on the zone read, and he will be carrying the ball 8-10 times per game.

No
The Washington D made adjustments and slowed them down.
Then the Skins O got their shite together.

Let me add though, when it was working in the 1st half last night it was a thing of beauty.

I just don't think there are that many QB's with both the speed and passing ability to run that in the NFL, and even if you find one, I don't think you can keep him healthy long term in that offense.

they looked like oregon. It wont last. Vick will get hurt and the run threat will die. Then they will be just another team with a hurry up offence

All of this. For me, it made the NFL fun to watch. Give Kelly a couple of years to draft/trade to his style, and he'll make a lot of old hands in the NFL mad.

It was damn fun to watch.
Like others have said, the OL needs some improvement.
And Vick needs some help from the refs. If Brady, Manning or Brees are getting hit like that, there are at least a couple of late hit calls.

There's a reason the Pats run no huddle. That's because when maximize the number of plays that you have and you exploit mismatches, you see your points per play and points per possession go up. When that happens, you're more efficient on offense and put up big numbers.
I like how people like to say that defenses will adjust while ignoring that Kelly will also adjust...

Every bad team from nfl to high school will be trying to copy it next year....until they realize they don't have Vick and McCoy.
(It's a great offense for their personnel)

When is the last time Brady, Manning, or Brees had designed running plays called for them? If the quarterback is going to be running the football, then the defense has to be allowed to hit him. You tell the defense they have to pull up and not touch the quarterback, and then he tucks the ball and runs for a 15 yard gain and you've just created an unfair advantage for the offense.

You can say this for any offense in the league that's successful.

Well duh. I'm talking about hits after he has released the ball. I don't think he is taking off and running at that point.

It's called the slide rule. Freakin hate it. If a QB runs, they ought to be hit like anyone else.
