It has nothing to do with acoustics. We sit next to the band and everyone is at least close except the student section. They also speed up LSU at the end of the Alma Mater. But no one on this board....or on this earth, will get them to change. At that age, its cool to act like an idiot.

The crowd's never been able to spell out "T-I-G-E-R-S, TIGERS" to the speed of the band either.

If you want to gripe about something, how bout having everyone wait until the second part of Pregame to chant LSU. 20 years ago, we waited until the second part (stanza?) before chanting LSU. It flows better with the song. Chanting LSU as soon as the music speeds up doesn't match up with the song.

I'm pretty sure the student section is handed 5 hour energy drinks and red bulls when they enter the stadium because everything they do is sped up ridiculously

ETA: We are told over and over and over to ignore the crowd and listen only to the bass drum.

In my day (early, mid 70's) it was cocaine if you could afford (and find) it and amphetamines if you couldn't. Now it's Red Bull... Kids these days are useless. No offense to any kids out there.

Having been on the field as a band member, there's no way that the clapping can be on time from the crowd. We were taught to ignore it because people are clapping to what they hear and by the time they clap and the sound gets back to the field, they are behind the beat. You can see it doesn't mess up the band, and people are going to clap. The worst is when it's just the bass drum keeping time when the band sets up for Pregame.

The band walks out to a simple left....left...left..right..left cadence.

I noticed in Gainesville that they have the band mic'd and played through the sound system which makes the entire crowd in unison for their cheers. It makes it twice as intimidating when the whole stadium screams go gators in perfect time. I wish LSU would consider it

Last Saturday's crowd rhythm was waaayyyyy off. Worst I've ever heard. It was so bad I stopped clapping and just laughed.
