Pick whatever brand you like. Just don't have to spend a whole bunch on the scope.
I like redfield for the lower-middle class scope.

Find / save some more money and get a more expensive scope with more capability. Good glass makes all the difference between getting out of the stand early or getting a trophy. I recommend an entry level Zeiss or Kahles.
My rule of thumb: Scope should cost as much as the rifle it is mounted on. Preferably more.

I use Leupold only and my brother uses Nikon only we both think our brand is the best. Have owned a Redfield in the 80's and it was junk I actually upgraded to a Tasco.

I have two Nikon Buckmasters and I think they are great scopes especially for the money.
Yes, there are better scopes out there but for the amount if time I deer hunt they are fine. Now if it were an big money elk or moose hunt, if spend more but for local deer hunting with shots in the 100-300 yd range they are fine.

Can't go wrong with Nikon for money that you want to spend.

Find a used Nikon monarch, that will be our best bet for yor price range.

That's my suggestion in that price range.
I'm a shameless leupold blow hard though.

I agree on the Rifleman, but the Redfields are made by Leupold now so they should be fine too.

I have a $200ish nikon on my .30-30 and I hate it. It's got the "looking through a tube" effect big time, if that makes any sense.

I own a Redfield and now own a Nikon Prostaff. I picked up the Prostaff for my new 17 WSM. The Prostaff was actually cheaper than the Redfield. All that being said I would take a previous poster's advice and save a little more dough if I were putting a scope on a big game rifle.

Oleyeller,
Of the scopes you've mentioned, I have personal experience w/ the Nikon Prostaff and Leupold. I've been very happy w/ both of these. I don't have any of the new Redfield's, but a friend has bought a couple. He's been very pleased w/ them, as well. I've read good reviews Hawke (I considered one for a varmint gun) as well as Vortex scopes, as well.
Going the used route is also a good idea, as mentioned by an earlier poster. Keep an eye on internet gun/hunting forums. I've also saved some $$$ through the years buying factory refurbished scopes from Natchez
