Eta: just read user reviews on meta critic, basically the game improved the biggest flaws from the console version but it still sucks just because

If you get the chance read user reviews, people are working hard on tanking this game for consoles even though everyone says it improved it's biggest problems from pc.

My only problem is that it seems their dev team has put the pc version on the backburner. They are neglecting the group that participated in their paid beta test.

got halfway through act 2
Picked demon hunter. Seems like the most effective strategy is to spam arrows until I run out of hatred, rinse, and repeat.

Diablo fanatics seem like the biggest bunch of whiners. I understand not liking the game, but scores of '1' or '0' should be reserved for truly terrible games that are barely playable.
There's no way I'm getting this for a current gen console but I might pick it up next gen. Playing an action-heavy isometric RPG just sounds like it'd be more fun with a gamepad. If Blizzard ever decided to officially support gamepad play on PC, I would possibly pick it up there instead, even with all of the auction house problems.

I can't think of a game that has been more unjustfully criticized than diablo 3.
If someone thinks the console version is bad, they're either lying or haven't played it.

I think the 10 year hype for D3 backfired. People wanted perfection so when they didn't get it they freaked out.

I played on PC and it was pretty MEH, I had access to game due to wow subscription. However when my sub lapsed I lost access to the PC version of game.
That being said, I picked this up for some old school couch player Co-OP with my Wife..YES my wife. She loves the game and I think it plays pretty damn well for a console on PS3. THe drop in and drop out system is great. The gear drops are WAY WAY less random and stupid.
If you are a fan of what was good about the PC version of the game and have a son or daughter that is old enough to play, this is a fantastic re-entry to console market for Blizz.
Game also plays much smoother w/o the online requirement.
I am looking forward to the next gen versions and there are also hints that reaper of souls will make it to consoles as well.
(lmao at the auburn guy who said the devs put game on back burner when Blizz just announced an entire expansion that fixes many issues with pc)

Eh,
D3 tanked the story that the other games built. It even killed some fave characters in a humiliating way, and then introduced a retarded child of a fave character to rub salt in the wound.
Oh and the itemization was hilariously bad. I found class specific weapons based on the wrong stat

So they are patching d3 for pc?

They put the PC version on the back burner. So fixing the PC version's issues 2 years after the game was released makes everything ok? Many of the fixes for the PC version can already be found in the console version, hence "back burner". The last patch was on May 7th. The devs have said expect no patches until blizzcon which is in November. Loot 2.0 and paragon 2.0 will arrive in a patch prior to the expansion.

Gee, fix all those problems and delay an expansion
Or spend time on developing expansion which incorporates said fixes/improvements.
I would think that booting the lead game designer off the project and bringing in new blood signifies that they are not "putting game on back burner"
But to each their own. I am not arguing that the initial release was acceptable by any means. Blizz dropped the ball badly there.

I can understand your point. I admittedly don't have some deep affinity for the Diablo characters, story, or even series. I'm also speaking from complete ignorance here having not played Diablo 3 myself. However, I've seen plenty of it and I've read and watched multiple reviews.
I refuse to believe that game deserves scores of 0 or 1 on Metacritic, Amazon, etc. or the constant bitch and moan fests on Reddit about how it is SUCH a terrible game. It reeks of crybaby "fans" attempting to smear a game just because Blizzard took it in a direction they didn't like.
The same thing happened to Civ V, a series I do love. People didn't like the more streamlined approach Firaxis took with the game so the majority of the scores on Amazon are 1 star.
I know I shouldn't expect any better from the masses of the internet but it annoys me and feels really unfair to the countless people who worked on those games. Having said that, this console port has me interested in a game I knew I didn't want to sit at my PC and play.

User reviews are tricky for that reason. User reviews for splinter cell take a bigger hit than they probably should too because it's not what loyalists want. I understand the frustration but people take it to the extreme.
eta: So is it worth getting the console version down the road or is the eventual expansion fixing the same problems on pc? I am not getting either one anytime soon.

this is intriguing because I stopped playing the PC version when they added the real money pay to win bullshite.
I like finding drops that matter to my character better than playing E-Economics to get what I need to improve my toon.
