1. Alabama - offense looked sloppy, but I feel they will work the kinks out. Virginia Tech has a stiff defense. Alabama's defense and special teams looked great.
2. Clemson - big win against a quality opponent
3. Florida State - quarterback was near flawless and defense looked elite.
4. LSU - having difficulties finishing opponents off
5. Oklahoma - defense dismantled a really good offense in ULM. Knight didn't throw for many yards, but he did throw 3 Tds and ran for 103 as well.

Ohio state would get crushed by any SEC school, Oregon and FSU. Clemson would be a shoot out. Tired of the Ohio st and Notre dames in the title game, same with Oklahoma as well.

OSU hasn't been in a title game since 2007, and they haven't been in one they belonged in since 2006. Those kids are long gone playing in the pros or working real jobs.

Ohio State could very well run the table, albeit against the cupcakes they play. I love how ESPN played the narrative on the bottom line that Ohio State blew past buffalo 40-20. If not for a BS penalty that game would have been 30-27 at one point after the fumble recovery at the 1 yd line.

OSU would have scored 60 if they had to to win; they took the foot off the gas to not give up much of the playbook. They didn't play great, but they played well enough to win convincingly. That penalty was legit, and Miller didn't fumble. OSU had a bullcrap penalty called on them when a LB "continued to play after his helmet came off" and a guy got a sack like half a second later to continue a drive where Buffalo scored. Are we only going to count the one that helps Buffalo?

I don't think OSU should be in the top 3 as of now, I think Clemson, FSU and Oregon all looked better. Bama getting the benefit of the doubt is fine by me but they need to get it together before A&M

1. FSU. Granted, Pitt isn't very good, but still, FSU impressed.

2. Bama. Not great, but I'll give them another week before writing them off.

3. LSU. If the Tigers can build from here, look out.

4. Clemson. Let's see who walks away from the showdown with FSU in a few weeks.

5. Oregon. It was a tossup between them and Louisville. Both looked sharp, albeit against high school competition.

Not too shabby.

1. Bama: They didn't look sharp, but I'll give them another week to show me something on offense.
2 Oregon: I think Marcus Mariota is the real deal
3. Clemson: looked legit
4. FSU: Jameis Winston could be a star
5. Texas: I think this team could be pretty good this year

I don't get Ohio St hype. they were exceedingly fortunate last year, and did anyone actually watch that Buffalo game? They got bailed out by a (correct) flag that really had no bearing on the play. If that play stands, Buffalo is within a field goal in the fourth quarter. Ohio St. hardly dominated a friggin' MAC team, and not a good one.

Northwestern's win was more impressive. I think OSU is the better team, but I will be shocked if OSU makes it through their season undefeated. I'd be mildly surprised if they only lose one game.

My top 5:

1 Clemson
2 Bama
3 Oregon
4 South Carolina
5 Florida St

(South Carolina always plays like hot garbage in their first game, and they comfortably beat one of the better teams in the ACC -- they won by 17 without even playing well or needing any big plays)

I'd rank LSU 6th.

Sidenote: Do we only not jump to conclusions based on week 1 when a team looks bad? But when they look good they can jump in the polls? I'm all for moving teams up and down early in the year, but I support doing so after week 3 or 4 so we can see a little bit of a body of work

See this makes me question if you watched the game? Miller's elbow was clearly down, and it was the 3rd quarter, not the 4th. OSU could have scored more points, but they were up 3 TDs in middle of the 3rd and kind of just finished the game. Once again do we only count the bail outs when it goes against OSU's opponent? What about the LBer "continuing to play" when he didn't really do anything and it was a sack, and the ensuing 15 yard penalty continued a drive that Buffalo scored on?

I don't know if OSU is top 5 now, but they have top 5 talent, and were without 2 RBs and an all-american at corner and an all-conference type safety. They need to get better quick, or the Cal game could be interesting. I just love how people say don't overreact to a first game, then everyone overreacts

They will be in the top 5 because the voters won't make that drastic of a change after 1 week, however, Ohio State is NOT one of the 5 best teams in college football.

I know it happened in the 3rd, but the score would've carried into the fourth. And the call wasn't the elbow, there was an illegal hands to the face flag, by the rusher who did not make the sack. And, yes, I only count the bailouts when YOU ARE PLAYING BUFFALO. You don't get to play woulda coulda shoulda against a team that went 4-8 in the MAC last season.

Buffalo is a terrible football team. Simply terrible. And Buffalo managed to hang with the Buckeyes after a miserable start. That's what we like to call a red flag. Last year, an Ohio St team that won six games by 7 points or less won their opening MACtion game by 46 points.

I didn't think Ohio St was a top 5 team prior to this weekend and I see no reason to start thinking that now. Honestly, I think Wisconsin is the best team in the Big Ten. I don't think the Buckeyes suck or anything, but I just don't see them as an elite national title contender this year.

Braxton Miller is a hell of a player, though.

And you know this how? Because they didn't beat LSU in 2007?

They beat buffalo...WTF is wrong with you people? Ohio state? LSU? You can't even have a legit top 10 list with these teams

Not when OSU scored another TD in the 3rd.

Anyway, I agree OSU should not have struggled against Buffalo, but they really didn't. They coasted, whether they should have or not, in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. They won by 3 TDs on a day where Miller threw a pick 6, and the O gave Buffalo a short field on another drive. In the 4th quarter it was run run, try and get the first down, then punt...not trying to score

I also don't think they looked top 5 this weekend, but I also think you wait a month to judge teams.

I don't see why not? So Oregon beating a non qualifying school by 60 is a better win than LSU beating a ranked team at a neutral site? USCe must be the happiest right now, because even though they looked ugly most of the night on Thursday, everyone has forgotten that performance with the 40 games over the weekend

1. Bama - They are the champs until they are dethroned... They will get the kinks worked out and all this talk about how shitty the OLine looked will be fuel for improvement. They should lose a game or maybe 2 y the season's end but like I said.. They stay at 1 until they get knocked off

2. Oregon - "Same as it ever was" ... Easy schedule and they are going to score like 800 points a game. Can't wait to see them play Stanford (only decent team on their schedule)

3. Clemson - I hate Clemson. But they play an easier schedule and have a great QB. All around, they are a good team and had the most impressive win on Saturday against a great UGA team... They can run the table

4. USCe - Played like crap and stil beat a pretty good team by 17. Clowney "taking plays off" ESPN hype bullshite will throw fuel on the fire. Tough schedule though... Will fall eventually

5. LSU - Words cannot describe the happiness that came over me to see Mett drop back in the pocket on 3rd and 3 in a close game... Cam has convinced Les to let go (for now). Chavis gunna Chavis. Jarvis Landry is beyond a beast, will be playing on Sundays soon. Tough schedule though, we will lose 2 by seasons end

Louisville - should be in the mix here bc they are going to run the table. I am not saying that they are half as good as any of these teams, just pointing out reality. I think everyone above loses at least one and the Cardinals will get a BCSNC Birth... Which is bullshite

that's fine. I'd be perfectly willing to make them a top 5 team if they beat Wisconsin. But I'm not high on Ohio St in the offseason. The buffalo game is only a small datapoint in my thinking at this point. At the end of the day, it's a layup game. I didn't have OSU in my preseason top 5, and see no reason to change.

Beat Wisky, and I see a reason to change.
