I am wanting to convert my automatice deer feeders to gravity feeders. Two reasons for doing this. The first is where I can feed rice bran/protein in them and the second is to reduce the headache of timers not working when you go to hunt. Has anyone done this and if so, how did you do it?

As mentioned in my thread about gravity feeders, you can buy the kits to convert the feeder from just about any outdoor outlet.

I just did this last weekend. Go to hardware store and buy a 4" PVC "T" and a 4" toilet base. Remove spreader, widen hole on feeder to 4". Screw toilet base to bottom of feeder. Glue "T" to toilet base. DONE!

Side note - I open the whole to 4" because i use "dirty" beans for feed and the trash tends to clog up the smaller hole on the feeder.

If your feedeing clean corn you don't have to widen the hole.

U can buy the gravity feed tube with three openings at academy for $25. It attaches to the bottom of ur existing feeders drum.
