Oh well, at least they won't let the NFL use them to blame everything on the Saints, like they did last year.

ESPN on Thursday ended its official association with “Frontline,” the public television public affairs series, on a two-part documentary about concussions in the N.F.L. that is scheduled to be televised in October. After 15 months on the venture, ESPN chose to strip its name, logo and credit from the films, “League of Denial: The NFL’s Concussion Crisis.”

In a statement, ESPN said: “Because ESPN is neither producing nor exercising editorial control over the ‘Frontline’ documentaries, there will be no co-branding involving ESPN on the documentaries or their marketing materials. The use of ESPN’s marks could incorrectly imply that we have editorial control.” ESPN added that it would still “cover the concussion story through our own reporting.”

LaPlaca said ESPN’s decision was not based on any concerns about hurting its contractual relationship with the N.F.L.

Like Jim Rome always says, anytime someone says its NOT about something, that's exactly what it's about.

Frontline is a terrible show. They had two shows about the company I worked at and bashed them to shite.

They did one about my company and it was pretty ridiculous.

Reason No. 9278375927354 that ESPN can go frick itself.

First it was "Playmakers", now it's this.
Only this is much worse because the concussion issue is a legitimate sports news story, the likes of which a company like ESPN should be all over.
So instead of participating in real sports journalism, ESPN cowers in the corner when their contract is brought up.

I like to bash ESPN as much as the next guy but the truth of the matter is that ESPN is a symptom of the much larger problem that is corporate media.
But this is neither the thread nor the board for that conversation.

Oh, I completely agree. Doesn't change the fact that I hate their content and the way they operate.
