First, I'm not overreacting. I made a joke. Did you not note the afterward?

I did not.

Second, if Cabin in the Woods was one of the best movies of the year for you, great. To me, it was terrible. If I wanted a spoof on the horror genre with an equally terrible premise that was actually enjoyable, I would have watched (and eventually did watch) Tucker and Dale Versus Evil, which is splendid.

Yeah and Tucker and Dale is equally as good. I don't see how you can like one and not the other. That makes almost no sense. (To that not: Tucker and Dale was a straight comedy, not a critical analysis of the horror genre per CitW. So maybe there is a difference).

Couldn't agree more. But there's absolutely no reason to defend anything in this instance. I was only trying to open a dialogue. By its definition, defending something means that something had to have been attacked. Well I haven't attacked anything.

Let me rewrite your OP for you then:

Title: Why Do People Like B-Grade Horror Movies?

Not trying to pick a fight, but I just heard the commercial for "You're Next" on Pandora and I'm not even sure how good it is since I haven't seen it, but it got me thinking. I like horror films, but I don't really like B horrors and intentionally bad films. Most of them I've seen suffer from: (1) predictability; (2) implausibility; (3) lack of character depth; (4) bad acting; (5) bad directing; and/or (6) bad premises.

I like B-grade, over the top stupid/stoner comedy, so is it like that? Even though I know most of the jokes in stupid/stoner comedies, I still find them hilarious. Is it that B-grade horror flicks make you laugh, get your adrenaline up? Or are you just enjoying the gore? Again, honest inquiry, not trying to pick a fight.

Better?
