Offense Ahead of Defense Overall? What Does It Mean?

I know that there was chatter today about the offense getting the better of the defense in the Big Cat Drill and then I watched it and that was clearly the case. Maybe the BCD doesn't matter too much, but if you go back over the years, it has actually been a pretty good indicator of size, strength, quickness, and aggression. The Defense usually wins. Now, the offense is.
What does it mean?
We return 9 starters on offense and our offensive line is being built to maul people. That is part of what is happening.
Our Defense is young. Guys are going to be unsure of themselves and make mistakes.
They say at this time of year that the Defense is supposed to be ahead of the Offense. Maybe Cam is lighting a fire under the offensive guys? Maybe the defense is going to have a steeper learning curve?
Maybe it was the Big Cat Drill and it means nothing?
Discuss.

I don't think you can gauge too much from Big Cat.
If the O is ahead of the D, I would attribute it more to the O having more starters back than on D.

The only thing about the Big Cat was watching Hilliard get pushed around last year and lose every battle. Then, the season starts and he gets pushed around all season.
I am not saying that it is even 15% of the story, but it means something. Just assessing what we saw today.
No more. No less.
I'm bored.

It means u might be putting too much stock into a warm up drill

The big cat drill is basically blocking which is what the offense does.

It's actually very simple. Hilliard kept moving his feet while Barrow stopped. KH has been working real hard to improve. Barrow just made one small mistake
It's a good sign for us because we shouldn't worry about Barrow. He'll be ready. Now we have some indication that Hilliard is motivated more than ever. Can't wait to see them light up TCU

Should call it big tiger drill.

This actually excites me. I have no doubt that Chavis will have a good defense. If the offense is better, it tells me it's because they have improved greatly.

When you break down the match-ups, its not hard to see why. There were a lot of freshman on Defense, but Locature, Herron, Melvin Jones, and Bower won, or held their own against older guys. Maclin dominated, and Ego looked good. Freak, Johnson and Thomas didn't look bad, just didn't dominate, and Allen's go was just meh technique by the Offensive guy. So, I guess this must come from the RB's beating the LB's...?

Doesn't mean much. The defense isn't allowed to shed their blocker. The drill is set up in the offenses favor!

I liked what I saw from Hilliard considering he was stopped plenty times at the line of scrimmage on 3rd and very short or goal to go.

no it's set up so the guy with better technique, leverage, and sometimes strength, beats his man head up.

Yeah, I don't think they judge each one differently, do they?

I thin this is true, but when defensive players practice leverage, and technique it doesn't translate to this drill. All offensive players practice blocking.

Wrong! Can the offensive line guys do everything they would do in a game in this drill? The answer is YES. The Defensive Line can't!

It means our offense will be much improved and defense will take time to catch up during the season. It LOOKS like we're young on D and don't have explosiveness, though we won't really know till we play. Also, this gives you an indication of size/strength/speed though in-game stamina and motor can't be assessed. Maybe Ego and Freak get better as the games goes.
