Can we re-visit the Gordon situation w/ the organization

It's astounding the lack of publicity presence he still has within this franchise. It's like he's a lock to be on the first bus out of town when possible.

why would they pump out there if they think/know they're trading him?

Can't put him out there and risk another one of these:

You must have missed his live, courtside NBATV interview during Summer League.
Rather have him in rehab than see his best Blue Steel.

Gordon just got back from representing the NBA and the Pelicans in the Philippines with James Harden. I would say that is a public presence.

meh. he's away for rehab, can't do anything with the actual organization and fans, rehabbing, yet he's sent to gorilla manila.

Although he's trying to get better, he has a long history of not just being terrible at PR, but doing/saying the worst possible things he can do/say. The forced him to do stuff in LA, meaning he didn't want to do it. If all you really need him to do is play ball, don't make him do something he's not good at when he finally seems happy.
I think the absence of Gordon is more a reflection of him being a PR liability than any indication that he's on the first bus out of town.

To be fair James Harden was sent there as well.

if his face and mouth is a liability to the franchise... i see no light at the end of this tunnel.

seems more nba driven than organizationally driven.

The light will come if he is able to be a part of success on the court. Fans will start to forgive him, he'll start having fun being part of the team and want to do more things as part of the team. The only solution to this problem is winning.

i'd like to believe all that but it just feels too cold in the room. like they have a plan in place and that plan is ridding themselves of this dude.

Yeah, it's going to be a catch 22. For him to have trade value he's going to have to play well enough that you won't want to trade him. They have to be committed to trading him, or have the right opportunity comes along, like Rivers and Evans playing well and then a SF like Batum or Deng being available.

Representing the league to people who never heard of you is very different than representing to the team to locals who think you're an overpaid malcontent.

They picked 4 of the most outgoing personalities on the team for the unveiling. Reke/Rivers/Gordon might have more name potential, but those guys are better showmen.

Rivers is pretty charismatic and interviews well. He can easily be a face of franchise type if his play warranted it.
