Yeah, the 75 or so pounds of what I've got now is...heavy. I can throw it over my shoulder and get it to where I need it but damn.

Damn man. Congrats. My PA 12 is for sale. Garmin Elite 5, bow and stern running lights, all pre-wired to pelican waterproof case, h bar, hd cart, trailer with custom yak mounts and 4 saddles... This was before I had my trailer done
Trailer is 5' x 8' with spare

how much you looking to sell that for?

So the Hobie kool aid makes you not want to paddle and have to use a trailer. Kinda of defeats the purpose of a kayak.

Mind if I ask why you are selling your PA 12? Looks like you've spent a lot of time and money getting that rigged up just right.

Oh? That seems a bit narrow minded. Actually, it seems like it opens more doors for more people to enjoy kayaking who may not want to or be able to paddle for hours to fish. You also spend more time fishing instead of paddling.

I couldn't use those the same way I use my kayak. Don't get me wrong they are great boats but it just doesn't fit the job I need for a kayak.

How do you use yours that you wouldn't be able to use one of the Mirage drive line?
A buddy at work takes his Revo all over the marsh and the lakes just fine. He says, with the wheels, it is easier to drag over just about anything. He just brings the wheels with him and can go over anything in front of him.

I like the simplicity of a kayak
the more shite you add to it, the more stuff to break
If I wanted to work on something all the time I'd have a boat

and with the ability to take the drive out and paddle i dont see why everyone hates on it (besides the price tag cause i do hate that)

I hate on the weight
even without the paddle drive they are 100 lbs

I'm sorry I miss spoke. I could use the Revo and Outback I just don't like the seat in them. The PA is just to big to throw on top my SUV or drag over the small winding trail over the dune behind the camp. I never paddle real far when I fish maybe 2-3 miles round trip. And enjoy the paddle. Yes it is a cool feature to fish hands free and a huge advantage. Hopefully they come out with an Outback with a better seat option.

I would also like to know the price of the kayak/boat that you're selling.

Salmon you and I are on the same page. I'm not hating I just don't think the Hobie is the be all end all for kayaks.

When I first started thinking about kayaking I borrowed a guys homie pro angler and was hooked (on kayak fishing). The PA made me realize a few things: getting into shallow spots was awesome, I loved standing and fishing, it was too big for me to handle easily, and there were too many moving parts. I decided after that trip I wanted basically a hull. No moving parts, and something I could easily stand and fish in. I had access to a boat but going get it, finding someone to fish, going fish, cleanup, bring it back, etc was more of a pain than worth it. I wanted something I could throw in my truck and roll within minutes.
Pros and cons for the PA....
You can't really paddle a PA with any ease because of their width. They weigh a lot but can fit in the back of the crew can pickup bed.
There are obviously advantages to the mirage drive and I do wish I had one sometimes. But when it comes to real skinny water, like less than 10", the mirage drive can't operate. My buddy has a tarpon and a hobie and uses the tarpon more because he can get into shallower spots.

Yeah, as much as I REALLY like the PA, I am leaning more and more to the Outback. It just seems a little better fit for me. The seat is a bit uncomfortable compared to the lounge chair on the PA. Ahhh, decisions decisions.
