Huh? How do you think the bait guys get them? You just have to make short pulls.
Yep just pull for 10 minutes at a time and everything is still very much alive. When my dad had his offshore boat we would pull two ten minute drags and had all the live shrimp and croakers we needed.

outside waters stay open the better part of the year.
Was having this debate last week, but what is the dividing line? I thought you could trawl along the beach for most of the year, but the guy I was discussing this with claimed it was farther out, but couldn't exactly say where.

I put a call in to LDWF. I will report back after I talk to them.

no, who/what is papis?
you going this weekend?

Papis is the trashiest bar in louisiana, it's right before marsh masters, just past watts trailer park.
I may be down this weekend, not sure yet, if I do go down ill be going offshore.
However, ive been hearing from our camp neighbor that Lake jesse has been producing some nice trout lately.

They were pulling all along the beach the other day. Plenty of pogies and finger mullet around also.

I talked to Mr. Martin Bourgeois of LDWF, he said when you troll for bait you have to follow the shrimp seasons. It is currently closed inshore. White shrimp season opens inshore on August 12th.

You could have pulled the beach. I watched 2 dragging within casting distance of some wade fishermen Sat afternoon.

roger that. It will be my first time and I just haven't got everything lined out yet. Maybe next time I go......
found a good spot to cast net not to big pogeys.

This is what a trawled croaker looks like...
You just posted a pic of dead versus live croakers.
I used to trawl all the time and use live croakers for bait.

16' is the delineation btw licenses. that and below is around $35, above is $90. You still have to wait for the inside season to open, which should be soon.
