Could make the case Brees has superior coaching.

As much as I like Dick Vermeil he's not as good a coach as Payton imo.

Brees is a Top 5 QB in the game for awhile now...and has delivered as the guy who makes the Saints go...

But...

Was unreal - and on such a hot streak at his best.

I don't believe Brees has ever been as hot.

So Warner at their best.

Brees for career.

Warner should have two superbowls if the trashy fricking patriots hadnt been filming thier practices.

I find it amazing that more people dont bring this up more often.

They taped the offense practices and knew everything the rams were doing.

They should have all been bannedand the rams sshould have been given the trophy.

All this is coming from a saints fan so im not a bitter rams guy.

It was blatant cheating and should have been thrown out.

The rams offense at its best was a machine as is the saints at its best. Its a toss up but I would pick brees overall no doubt.

This is asinine.

Trent Green and Marc freaking Bulger put up numbers on those Rams' teams. Imagine Drew Brees throwing to Holt and Bruce, with Faulk in the backfield.

Without all the help Warner sucks. Jut like he did in NY. He was a turnover machine.

You're dumb. Read the OP - at their best.

Yes, Warner went through a 4 year slump with multiple teams when he had arm problem and thought his shoulder was shot.

Rams and Cardinals he was great and carried those Cards to the Super Bowl.

Trent Green was doing what Warner was doing...nice revisionism...he was running the O but not like Warner.

If you put a prime Marc Bulger on the Saints there would be little drop off

Are you saying Marc Bulger or Trent Green wouldnt have put up #s in the Saints system?

Of course they wouldnt be at a Brees level....but those guys would put up #s in a Saints type system as well..

Brees has definitely been more consistent with his great play, but at each of their bests, I think Warner gets a slight nod. Guy was a warrior

And Philip Rivers put up far better numbers on the Chargers than Brees ever did as a Charger. Just imagine what Rivers could do if he had Payton in charge of the offense.

Brees, and it's not close.

Warner was always overrated trash. If he is not surrounded by top 1-2 receiving corps, he's damn near useless.

Tampa Bay slowed down the Rams in '99, and had they had a even a mediocre offense that year, they beat them.

Lol, dude, brees was trash in San Diego...if the saints didn't take a chance on him because they essentially had nothing
to lose at the time, it's quite likely he'd have been out of football almost a decade now. Instead, he benefitted from falling into a great offensive system and has thrived on it, but don't act as if he's been a world beater his whole career, he hasn't.

And the answer to the original question is Warner...at his best kI'm not sure I've seen anyone better, but brees has had the better career obviously

I agree it's close but Martz didn't seem to be the same towards the end of his career. We will just have to wait and see how Payton's ends up to really know

I think Payton makes better adjustments and is a better head coach without question.

Martz could not prevent his QB's from getting killed by making necessary adjustments to blocking schemes and formations. When the league started to figure the Martz offense out in St Louis he was clueless and lost.

Martz was fine when he had someone to check him like Vermeil.

That 2004 season is very impressive especially.
