Yes. It's one thing to have idiots in the national media calling for Hill's head, but when you can quote the former AD saying HE think Hill will be booted, then yes...it may very well carry some weight.
Well, I must be naive because I think Skip's opinion will factor somewhere betwene 0% and -1,00% into LSU's decision...which is the only reason I think Skip replied with an answer.
quote:
why put those guys in the position to have to answer for your comments?
Do you really not think they will get Hill questions when they all report?
quote:
Because other than giving a quote to the press, what good comes from it?
That's the main diffeence...I don't think good has to come from it. As long as it isn't hurting, sure, be transparent. When your honesty can hurt a player a coach or the program , zip the lip. I don't think this hurts at all.

quote:c'mon, man. If Miles ultimately allows Hill back on the team, then it will look like there is dissension in the ranks of LSU higher-ups. Is this really that hard to see?
These questions will continue to come up until August 16 and/or a decision is announced by LSU.
They were going to asked when the team reports anyway.
I can't see what really changes for LSU.

Ideally this is what will happen, but his name carries weight with national media, regardless that he's uninformed on this.

Skip replied because he'll never pass up an opportunity to run his mouth.

It would look like Skip is clueless to me and really just not informed.

So once again, why is he commenting on anything in the first place?

You think if he really had some scoop he would have said something? Not saying you're wrong, but if he really did leak something, than he needs to be kicked in the saggy grandad nads.
I guess I just don't take the Doucet's and the twitter world as serious as some. To me, it's nothing more than a glorified blog and people with either absolutely zero or tons of credibility. It's a temporary soapbox with no editer.

So why is he putting his two cents in again?

Of course they will! and NOW they will get follow-ups that include quoting the former AD. why? Because skip couldn't have simply said he had no idea? Who do we care more about here...Skip's ability to make a soundbite, or LSU?

Then I guess this is where I disagree, because I think his comments can hurt LSU, Miles and most importantly Hill.

Agree with all of that.
Skip should not have said anything and just let it play out
Now the national sports media talking heads will take what skip said and run with it.

He shouldn't have said anything. Period. How is that this difficult to grasp?

Just because you're ignorant to how twitter or other forms of social media work, doesn't mean that everyone is.

I get that's your opinion..hear you loud and clear. I just disagree. I don't think it matters one way or the others to anyone except the extreme social media tards.

I know how they work, but the only people who will care about this are the ones who take it too serious. For the most part, people won't care and it won't be that big of an issue. In 2.5 weeks, Skips comments, or lack thereof are completely a non topic.
(unless of course someone bumps them here as a "see, I guess skip was right" or a "skip is a tard")
Some people are acting like this will actually have some sort of on the field impact on the program or be a factor in any of the decision which is giving Doucet, Skip and social media too much credit.

Because he was asked, doesn't think his opinion is that important and doesn't see how a few butthurt twitter readers make a difference.
I don't think something good has to come out of every comment.

I agree with you FWIW. In the end Skip's comments won't mean anything, and a couple of tweets aren't going to have much of an impact here.
But I know Skip wouldn't appreciate a former AD commenting on disciplinary action while he was coaching.

So you think it's a good thing for national college football writers to keep talking about the story even though there is no actual news to report on?

Their job is to report on sports news.
quote:You are going to have to explain that statement....
He tweeted it before the Shreveport people even reported it.
Doucet's tweet was made at 6:31 AM today, (copied and pasted below from his Twitter home page):
quote:
Skip Bertman tells Shreveport media he does not believe running back Jeremy Hill will be back on LSU football team. #LSUROAR
6:31 AM - 26 Jul 13
The YouTube video of Skip's comments to the TV station is dated yesterday, copied and pasted from the YouTube video:
quote:
LSU legend and former AD weighs in on troubled running back. Interview shot 7-25-13.

I hear ya...I certainly don't think he helped anything

No...I've said before, I don't think this is good, but I don't think every comment has to have a good or positive impact.
Sometimes "respected" people will say things , it will grab headlines and social media buffs get insane, but most people don't care.

I thought you said Skip's comment was opinion?
If Skip saying something is news, and he only said something because he was asked, then by asking him the question they are trying to make news, not report on it. That's bullshite.

And this is coming from a guy who does not know how to tell the time that a tweet was posted. smh

I thought you said Skip's comment was opinion?
I'm waiting for you to explain your "the tweet was before the TV station reported Skip's comments" statement. Was it just an out-and-out lie on your part?
