Well, I think you only move Beltre if you are committing to full rebuild. Or at least a partial one.

The Rangers only have two starters with an OPS+ above 110: Nellie (120) and Beltre (132). You simply can't trade the only above average bat in your lineup that's not about to get suspended. Trading Beltre is not an option.

VERY much agree. Unless...and a big unless...they just openly decide to quit on the season. And only being 6 games out of the West, and 1 GB of the wild card - just don't see that happening. Beltre is untouchable as of now or the offense would be even more craptacular.

Signing Young doesn't do anything but rearrange the deck chairs. He gets on more than Moreland, but almost all of that is BA driven, and Moreland has more power. You're better off sticking with Moreland.

Exactly. There are some really smart guys running the Rangers, so hopefully they realize this. Young would be nice to have for those instances where we have to choose between Soto or Profar to be the DH. But even still, I'D much rather give Profar those at bats.

They need a big time corner OF or a 1st baseman who can mash. That should be easy to find, but it hasn't been.

There's been, literally, no talk about the Rangers having interest in any first basemen. BUT - that's a pretty interesting thought. Moreland and "new guy" could platoon at 1B, taking turns at DH. Mitch can play corner OF at least somewhat, too. I like the thought. ESPECIALLY since there don't seem to be many OF bats available.

I'm really starting to worry that not moving one of andrus or profar last summer and blocking profar up is going to end up burning the rangers.

This year is a waste for him, and his value isn't what it was just four months ago. The Rangers HAD TO turn kins/andrus/profar into three players that could play every single day in some manner.

I agree. I am not a big fan of Kinsler, so I would have moved him. But I think they had to do something.

Throw Kinsler in there and I'd agree. Profar, to me, is a guy that needs to be playing every day (almost) OR that needs to be traded for a similar, young stud at a position of weakness (OF).

They should have tried opening up 2nd base for him via Kinsler trade (unlikely). Traded Elvis under his old contract, prior to this horrible season, leaving SS open for Profar. Or just traded Profar in a Stanton deal. Stanton would have been an huge piece to this season's puzzle.

completely agree. They have completely mismanaged Profar and to a lesser extent, Olt. They just sapped all of the value from them as prospects. If you didn't think they were useful pieces, trade them at their peak value.

He's 23 years old and he already has 106 career home runs. In the National League.

Dude's a stud.

Why not?

He's been a top 5 2B in the AL for the past 5 years.

I don't think his contract is THAT ridiculous, though not favorable as he approaches his decline.

He, at times, has a terrible approach at the plate. He gets really lazy in the field and makes dumb errors. And he is a dumb baserunner.

He's actually been decent this year. Last year, he was terrible.

ETA: He's 5th in WAR in the AL at second base at 2.9.
