color me skeptical about how close this deal is. We're not just going to unload sori for just anything and with such an amorphous term as 'mid-level prospect' as all that's been said I have to think the NY side jumped the gun thinking that the cubs are desparate to part with him, which I don't believe to be the case.
ETA: BN makes a good point that mid level could mean mid level in terms of where he's playing (AA) and if he's a good prospect then i'd be more inclined to think they are "close"

They could be doing it for Soriano more than anything, honestly. NY needs help and Soriano wants to win before he retires, so that could be the Cubs motivation. It's not like they'll save money or anything or have a prospect take over LF.

I've been trying to tell you guys they have been trying to dump the dude since last year. The Cubs do not have the bargaining power in any deals.
Aging OF who costs a fortune has no part of the Cubs future. They will take what they can get
