open? It was supposed to be an early June opening, then they seem to have just went totally silent.
They could have been cashing in on the overflow on weekends from Brisbi's.

I have no idea but I bet they are watching Brisbi's very closely so they don't make some of the same mistakes.

What's going on with Brisbi's?

Yeah I get it, but I think the original plan was for them to be open spring of 2012, so they have been having issues for a while now with planning and execution.
It just looked like in May that the construction was done. They had put out some pictures of their new tables and chairs, dishes, etc. Looked like the places was ready to open any day.

Yeah they are just getting slammed and their food and service has been extremely inconsistent.
It happens when a place opens.
Blue Crab really screwed themselves with the delays.

It sounds like that first weekend they were open they got slammed so bad that they ran out of some food.
I'm sure they will work it out. I have a date night this Saturday and I'm thinking of taking the wife to try it out. At least maybe sit at the bar and have appetizers or something.

I just went to the BC's facebook and someone asked if they would be open by Labor Day and the response was "We should be open by that time"
Well no shite you should be.
Well no shite you should be.

You won't be doing that because they don't allow people to order food at the bar at dinner or at the tables outside that are specifically designated for drinking.
At least that was the case when I went there on July 3rd. Wife and I were drinking at one of the tables outside that was designated for that, and I wanted just a little snack so I went to the bar. They said "No."
Apparently, you had to get a table to eat anything. I'm sure they will change that bit of idiocy.

Yeah, they totally missed out on the entire summer.

Yeah, it's still like that. I think it will change in the future but for the moment they are trying to keep it simple I guess.

They have simplified the shite out of their operation. Immediatly did away with the brunch idea and cut back on hours, etc.
I don't like this no eating at the bar idea. Hope that gets changed soon.

I wasn't even at the bar I was at a bar table. I just wanted to order from them, go get it when it was ready and bring it to my table. They wouldn't allow it.
I guess they had so many problems and they were so busy they just want to keep it simple.
The bar was packed, so I can understand it.

At the time I was floored. It really is dumb, and I've never seen that at any other restaurant, ever.
But as busy as they were, I guess I get it now. The bar was completely packed.

I think you have to realize the owner is a young kid with a construction background. He saw a business opportunity and went for it. It was obviously a smart decision based on how crowded they have been from day 1. I think he's relied too heavily on the chef and others to figure out the restaurant management part and that hasn't worked out....yet. I think they'll figure it out. It just may take some time.

I have heard they have been running into major permitting issues and they have failed plenty of inspections.

Yea I grew up with Jonathan, and he is a good dude. He has been working his arse off to improve the food and service. I think you are 100% right about relying to much on the chef. I have been four or five times and each time is better than the time before.
