Christopher Nolan and Casting Blacks

With all the race discussions on TV today, it occurred to me (while watching The Prestige) that Chris Nolan doesn't really cast blacks in leading roles. Consider the movies of his that I've seen - Memento, Insomnia, The Prestige, The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, and next year's Interstellar. All-white casts. I can't even think of any exceptions. [ETA: Oops, just remembered Morgan Freeman.]
Anyways, I am by no means casting judgment on the guy. He's one of the best living directors and one of my personal favorites. Just an interesting observation. . .

Has he ever cast a Filipino in a leading role?
These are questions people want to know.

Leonardo can do a pretty good Rhodesian accent.

He'd definitely fit somewhere close to the middle of that list.

Francois Truffaut only cast French people in all his movies. Where were the fricking Americans goddamnit?!? Especially the black ones!
What's about Akira Kurosawa casting mainly just Asians (along with fricking commie Russians)??? All these directors need to be called out!

quote:Among that list, I'd rank Nolan above Anderson, Refn, Malick, Lynch, and Boyle (only seen two of his movies that I can think of). At least. Nevertheless, even if he's behind all those guys, Nolan would still qualify as one of the best living directors IMO.

But that's not what this thread is about. It's about discussing a random (and evidently uninteresting) observation that I made.
I knew this thread would be good for a few laughs!

Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive are great. Eraserhead was too bizarre for me to like. Never saw The Elephant Man. What other movies of his am I missing?. . . Because I think Nolan's body of work outweighs Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive. JMO
