Im heading up to Missouri in a couple weeks and i have a Glock that i bought from a friend years ago (which is still registered to him) and an AR my dad gave to me (which is registered to him) that i want to bring to go to the range at Ft. Leonard Wood. Whats the law say about traveling with a gun not registered to you?

What the hell does a registerd gun mean?

You have to go to the Department of Gun registration in Lincoln, NE to have that changed over.

There is no gun registration in Louisiana. Check the state laws which you will be passing through for specifics on traveling with them in a vehicle. Some states require unloaded, in the trunk, etc.

What is a registered gun?

We want to help you, but first off you need to understand that gun was never register to your friend and can not be register to you. Why you ask? There is no gun registry, except for a few VERY liberal states and cities..

Im confused as to why yall dont understand what gun registration is. Is that not a real thing? Please enlighten a stupid city boy like myself.

I need to go into the Louisiana Re-register/un-register card business. For a small fee to me you can fill out my card and be good to go.

I know this is an honest question by our brother Homey, but the lack of understanding of gun laws in this country never stops amazing me.
Homey, those guns aren't registered to anyone. When the original purchaser filled out the background check forms, the feds checked them, obviously said proceed, and by law aren't allowed to keep the records.

Now that is out of the way, every state is different on where you can carry guns, if they have to be in a lock box, unloaded, in the trunk or if they can be loaded concealed next to you. Every state is different...

I know what you mean. I own a number of fire arms, and i had no idea that they arent "registered" to me or to whoever i bought them from. I was only taught gun safety, never about the legal part about guns.

Brightest point you've made in this thread.
Make sure you take your boots and ammo to chessepeake, alaska to register those with the department of boot and ammo registration.
