re: Need to Kill Time: What's a story that you've heard that still gives you chills

No shite!
I check on that every so often, and never find anything. I assume whoever wrote it just abandoned it. But man, that was one of the most promising ones in this thread, and it just died after two entries.
I like the "Time is fluid here" one. That was well-written and cool. I stumbled upon one a year or two ago that was similar, but went back to trry and find it several times and haven't ever been able to. I don't remember a lot about it, but IIRC it was about this dude who had a dream about Hell. And it was so real that he legitimately thought he was actually in Hell. It was so descriptive and detailed, and I remember it being a really good/interesting read. But I can't find it for shite.
This is easily one of the best threads this site has ever seen, and I love that it still gets bumped from time to time. Hopefully with Halloween coming up, some new/good stories/links will be posted. But as for now, I've read the entire thread and Penpals is still the best story in here...it's just so fricking awesome.

Agreed
I check r/nosleep from time to time but have a hard time investing the time reading the long stories without knowing if they are good or not... If that makes sense

I keep meaning to read all that one day but never have.
I think I've become turned off to longer stories after the cave one...which sucked.

Can someone link me to Penpals?

It makes complete sense.
I have several saed in Word documents on my desktop, and I read them every now and then during down time at work. Some are okay, but most aren't too great. And I really like the series ones, but som of those are fricking LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG, and like you said, it's tough to get started on one not knowing if it will be worth it or not. I usually go by the comments of the first and last entries...if they offer high praise, that's a good sign for me.

I am almost positive I've directly linked you to that one before, even maybe in this thread. But here you go, you lazy frick:
Part 1: Footsteps
Part 2: Balloons
Part 3: Boxes
Part 4: Maps
Part 5: Screens
Part 6: Friends
And WG, it blows the Ted the Caver story out of the water. It's not even close...and that's coming from someone who really liked the Caver one (until the bullshite end).

Reading Helter Skelter late at night was spooky as all get out.

My Dad was a firefighter in the Air Force for over 20 years. When we were stationed in Indiana at Grissom AFB back in the 80's, there was a light outside the main gate, and it had a blind approach.
A Minivan with kids, was hit at full speed by a truck at that light. The Van exploded on impact, which according to my dad, is uncommon. Since they were closest to the scene, they responded, despite being the base FD. My dad, who spent a year in Vietnam, and has seen and responded to numerous aircraft Crash's, said that was the only time he has ever thrown up at a crash site.

That dude is a fantastic writer, and he intertwines the stories very well.
I loved every minute of that one.

The scariest part of all those stories is that they're written in white lettering on a dark background. Stare at that shite a while and switch back to a normal bright site like TD... holy frick.
Posted on 10/21/15 at 1:58 pm to terd ferguson
Ah, I usually copy/paste them into a word document and it makes for MUCH easier reading. Only thing is the font is large though, so once I'm done reading it and switch back to a regular document (or TD), it always looks fricking tiny.

The guy never updated the elevator story, huh? I don't know much about basements and stuff, but if the guy lives in a big city don't they usually have tunnel systems beneath the surface?
I was waiting for the pictures to be gifs and magically show some demon face just as I started to concentrate hard on the black stuff.

I just read the Cave story...apparently there was additional information to the story but that link no longer works...anyone know where I can find that?
B/C I'm pissed if I can't read anymore about it ha

You read it all. It's supposed to end on that cliffhanger. The point is he's going back and will update once he returns, and he never does.
Sucks too because it was a hell of a story.
I did read an "ending" to it before, and IIRC it involved some sort of spirit or Indian spirit or some shite like that, and it ended up being a much better story with the cliffhanger.
