Moving a gun safe. Do it yourself?

I will be buying a gun safe very soon and now I am worried about moving it in place. It will not be the real heavy 800lb plus safes but at just under 600 it will be heavy. How did you guys get your safe in place? How did you unload it and wheel it in? Dollie, piano mover, roller pipes, balls, or did you let the pros install it? I plan on picking one up on a trailer and backing it up to my front door to get it in. It will have to be upright when moving it inside to make the corners. Tile floors and then carpet in the room it goes in.
I guess I better buy some beers and burgers to get this in place

I got a couple friends.
Used a combination of some old carpet and some wooden dowels.
Rolled it around on like 10 or 12 dowels until we got to the trailer, then put carpet on the trailer. Laid the thing down and slid it up the carpet. Strapped in place. Reverse for unload.

Moved mine with an appliance dollie and 3 strong men.

1 dolly
2 ratchet ties
and a whole lot of elbow grease and muscle and I moved it myself.
Of course, the next day my back prevented me from walking.

Slid it on a piece of cardboard

Trust me on this especially on tile... Get a big blanket and put the safe on the blanket. Once on the tile you could likely move the safe by yourself on the tile. Will work on carpet also but a little harder.
I moved mine to the house on my trailer then used my tractor to get it to the door when I put it on a blanket and put it in it's place with the help of two friends. I would have never believed how easy it was to move a safe with the blanket but it is. I got the top from a friend that used to install them.

The guy I bought mine from is a friend of mine. He's moved mine twice already and is going to move mine into my new house. We moved my dad's. It's smaller then mine and was a chore, but doable.

Dad and I moved ours and man that whipped our arse.
It weighed 600lbs and felt like a 1000 with no handles.
Pay someone.

It is def a process. I think I can get mine moved most of the way with a tractor this time. Buddy don't charge me and I hate to ask him again. He's so meticulous that it takes him a long time to get one moved.

However you move it, send the little ones to Grandma's house until it is in place.

+1 for the blanket. That's how we got mine in place where it is. Of course I want to move it upstairs but haven't found the right combination of friends and beer to make it happen yet.
Anyone want some free beer?

About to buy one myself so I went talk to a buddy who's got a huge one in his place.
Two words:
PAY MOVERS
It's what he did and it's DEFINITELY what I'm doing.

If you can take the door off its easier to move and handle .

I used a pallet jack to get mine in place.

This worked for me on wood floors as well. Much easier than I anticipated.

Mine is about the same weight. When I bought it, the place had a loading dock and they used a pallet jack to set it at the edge of my tailgate. We slid it in easy, Coming out, I slid it down from the tailgate using a couple 2x4's and then set it onto a movers dolly.
Wheeled it to where i wanted it and then slid it off of the dolly and inched it into its final position.
Did this with the help of my dad (60 yrs old) without getting a hernia.

I will have a furniture dolly (the squater low wooden frame with 4 wheels) and a regular dolly. I have tile so a blanket could work but I hope to have it on the furniture dolly from the begining to end. Once off the tile an inot my room it will be carpet. I may have to lay plywood down to roll the dolly. Then again a blanket may work on the tile and on carpet. I just do not want to be stuck with this sitting outside of my front door or in my hallway.
Any ideas on who to call to have some pros move it?
