He's signing tomorrow per my sources.

I think there is a good chance we lose him. Boston was able to save some money in their pool and they drafted several highly rated players outside of the top 10 rounds. Two of them were potential 1st/2nd round picks but fell due to injury/signability. They were turned down by one last week. If they don't get the other (Vandy signee Sheffield, TJ surgery) then we will probably lose Longhi.

I don't follow baseball recruiting at all but I'm assumin he was one of our best signees?

He wasn't the best signee, but he was one of the best we had a chance to keep.

MFer what round did he go in?

That's what I was thinking.
It's bullshite to lose a 30th rounder after the new rules were set in place.
senquez golson, the db from ole miss flew up there a year or two ago and he didn't sign after being offered close to a mill iirc. Maybe we can get lucky.

It isn't like they are just throwing money around. They managed to save money and can probably get him without exceeding their pool amount. I blame the three a-holes they drafted in the top 10 rounds that only signed for 10k each.

Screw them, their pool amount, and those cheap a holes.

Even with a higher slot pot, you would think Longhi would be looking at more money in 3 years if he can play into the top 5 rounds, right?
ETA: needless to say, I am disappoint

With what they have saved they can offer him top 5 round money right now.

Will be interesting to see if he keeps his number firm or signs below what he's asking.

They should be able to offer what he wants unless it is over 7 figures, or unless they throw it all at Sheffield.

Expect the bonus to be around $600/700K.

Yep. When they brought in Boldt for the same kind of "recruiting" trip I was praying he'd sign and take up all the excess slot money.
