Miles is going into his junior year. More of a baseball guy at this point, but you never know. Idk about Moffit

So what is your point? The kid was paid like a 4th rounder not a 30th rounder.

Ok so lets assume it takes him an amazing 3 years to make it to the big leagues. The day he is called up he makes major league minimum, which is approx. $440,000 or $2,716 per game pro-rated. I consider that decent money. Lets say it takes him the average 5 years to make it up.. he would be 22/23 making 440k a year..
Or he could have gone to LSU played 3 years and made less money in the draft than he signed for today... Happens all the time.

Colvin got $900,000, damn good money. What got everyone all upset was he was on campus for freshman orientation so assumptions were made that he was coming to school. Great negotiating tactic by Colvin.
Cecchini initially asked for 1.75 mil and got 1.3, so I guess he got way less than what he was asking for but can you blame the guy?

Standard procedure.. They have a verbal deal in place pending the results of a physical. He gone

That's not ridiculous money for any pro team, especially the one that took him.

What is his number?

Hopefully the Twins would actually throw him if they made it to the World Series..
re: 2013 CWS in a nutshell...

Out of all of the nonsense posted since LSU's departure from the CWS, you just brought up the topic at the heart of college baseball today. Parity. For years every school outside of the south and west coast has complained loudly about the "advantages" warm weather teams have over everyone else. First it was scholarship/roster size limits, then it was practice time limits, now it is bats and balls all aimed at one thing.. evening out the playing field. The NCAA would love nothing more than a CWS made up of Indiana, Stony Brook, Kent State, etc..

Huh? How is the current college game dissimilar due to the bats and ball structure? If anything the college game now with the bats and ball change is more comparable to low minor leagues.. High school players use the same bats as college guys they know exactly what the college game is. The choice to attend college or sign professionally has very little to do with that.. IMO
re: What the '14 baseball team is shaping up to look like

Laird's summer on the Cape will go a long way in determining his future draft outlook. Athleticism, speed and defense are definitely there. If he can handle the transition to the wood bat this summer, he may have a decision to make after next season.
re: Why isn't the baseball draft after the CWS?

They really do need to change it.. Also need to make non American players enter into the draft process.

Possibly Kenny Powers or coach Kent Murphy..

Technically they can begin the negotiation process, but traditionally the team will wait until the player is finished with his season. Definitely can't sign.. They immediately lose amateur status and would be ineligible.
re: CPM's Lack of Strategic Coaching

Any fan who compares Vandy's baseball program to LSU's is just plain dumb. Corbin is an excellent coach and so is James Franklin, but put them both in Baton Rouge and they don't last 5 years if their results are the same. Expectations are a bit higher in BR.
re: Coach Mainieri's comments after the game

I agree.. Let's talk about the worst case scenario for a second.. Hit and run= double play. Failed sac bunt attempt= man on first with one out.

Peter Gammons/Keith Law,
I think the point the "retards" are trying to make is if the properly executed hit and run ground ball to anyone on the infield would have worked just like a sac bunt, why not just sac bunt?

re: Stony Brook still beating us
Posted by OldAlexBox on 6/17/13 at 9:27 am to Fabius
I totally disagree... The "new" bats are not "new". They have been playing with them for 3 years. They won 57 games with the same bats, using the same philosophy they used last night. Simple execution in clutch situations and UCLA playing mistake free baseball is what beat LSU last night.
LSU wasn't outcoached, outpitched or outplayed. UCLA is less talented but simply did the job in the clutch.

Great comparison to Brignac. Reid may have been a step quicker and slightly more athletic but Deichman has more present day strength.. Both can really swing it.

IMO he was not called up too soon. The Orioles need to find out if he can handle the adversity that comes with losing in the big leagues.. His stuff is electric, he's just learning how to pitch at the highest level in one of the toughest divisions in baseball. He will be fine.
