Would you rather have a coach who disciplines kids or a coach who wins

With the whole urban Meyer situation. How many of you would like a coach who has good program or a coach who would do whatever to win. If you consider Les Miles not suspending TM7, would probably have us playing again for championship and equal Urban Meyer record. He chose to suspend and do what is right for the kid.

Why all the Les threads lately? Has ESPN been hating again?

Les last coached a game in December. It's July.

Miles did not have a choice with TM7, he was suspensd due to university policy. Miles would have swept it under the rug and kept going had it been within his discretion. Please don't try to make Miles the great moralist for suspending Mathieu because that is not what happened.

I'm sure LSU and Bama can both agree they would want a coach that does both. I would rather lose games, then win a bunch and have to worry about when they were all gonna get took away. Thats the truth.

Winning at all costs leaves me more than a little queasy. This is NCAA Football not, life or death survival and while I hate losing about as much as anyone I stand with the coach that teaches more than the X's & O's. PSU is a good example of the program carrying more weight than doing what should be done. Bottom line - do the right thing & let the chips fall as they may. Every kid is unique, every circumstance is its own & in most cases a second chance is not only warranted but deserved. Good coaches recognize their players weaknesses & great ones know when to pull the trigger on one player for the good of the team.

You know this how?
Give us some documented proof. The fact that guy on the bar stool next you said so isn't proof.
Back it up.
Put up or shut up.
Be right or begone.

There is a university policy at LSU regarding suspensions for failed drug tests. It was the same policy that was followed when Ware and Mathieu were suspended for one game during 2011.

Another link for for you, read the quotes carefully for what is said and not said.

Why do I have to be right or be gone? Where is your proof that Miles suspended Mathieu in his discretion, did some guy at a bar tell you? Proof is a two way street, sport.

"Miles would have swept it under the rug"
Your words? Where in your "proof" does it say that? Prove that Miles would have swept it under the rug.
Counseling and working with someone isn't he same thing as sweeping something under the rug.
Sweeping under the rug implies covering something up. Meeting and addressing the issue isn't a cover up. You made a flat statement. I challenge you to back it up.
My proof is in the fact that you didn't prove that Miles attempted to cover up. In fact the opposite is true.
Get your bar mate to read your own words to you.

Gray Tiger - you seem to dismiss a lot of other posters by asking them for proof of what they say. We're not in a courtroom and we're not reporters, we're just fans on a message board giving our opinions. If every poster was held to a high standard of needing hard proof before making a statement, there'd be no Rant.
Most of what you read on the Rant are opinions, so lighten up, Francis.

Well you know if everybody stated,"in my very biased and totally unsupported opinion...............", there shouldn't be any need to ask that they defend their statement. Unless it is interesting and I want to know how they arrived at that commonly held but misguided opinion.
But when they state an opinion as fact, and I believe that "fact" to be untrue, I just have to ask where they got the information. If it is legit, then I will have to change how I see the issue. If they are just mentally just blowing smoke, I have to challenge it.
Call it my limited effort in supporting Truth, Justice and the American Way.

Where is your proof that Marhieu's dismissal was in Miles' discretion.
The premise of this thread is that Miles, unlike Meyer, did the 'right thing' by dismissing Mathieu. My point was simply that Mathieu's dismissal was not Miles' decision and the quotes and drug policy tend to back that up.
In your words, do you have any proof otherwise or are you just giving your opinion?

Prove to me that Miles would have swept it under the rug. You stated this as a fact. I am challenging you on that.
