Yes, I know he is 40 or so but he hasn't lost one bit of driving talent. What he did at Sonoma was phenomenal. Coming from 35th to 2nd. You just don't do that on a road coarse and that is after being knocked back to 20th or so later in the race.

Bad luck? Crew chief isn't up to snuff? Not the cars as the rest of the Hendrick cars do pretty well.

He knows deep inside that NASCAR isn't a sport.

I don't think he cares as much anymore. Mostly a paycheck to him now.

I disagree. I've seen him drive his arse off too many times. I think the only driver with as much talent is Tony Stewart.

What I would love to see him do before he gets too old is Indy Car racing. Give him at least one year in one and then see how he would do at the Indy 500.

Exactly. If there isn't a defense it isn't a sport.

George Carlin called it a real sport.

Golf doesn't have a defense but it's considered a sport.

I stand to be corrected if golf is considered more of a game than a sport.

I've never thought about it that way but that actually is a great barometer for defining a sport

Golf is a game IMO. I love having these discussions with my golfing friends because they think I'm calling them fat or something.

You can't change these cars like the old ones so unless you have everything absolutely figured out like Chad Knaus you're just one of many.

I didn't watch Sonoma but my guess is he made up that much ground due to pit strategy since that's what normally happens on road courses. You drop deep in the field when you pit and then it cycles through depending on every one else's strategy.

There are 42 other drivers defending their position.
