This movie is a classic, I don't get the hate

Just queued it up. I like the movie too.

Not a fan. I might've had high expectations when I originally saw it and it didn't live up and I never watched it again. I did see the last 20 mins a few weeks ago and when he grabs the flag and then has the fight with Jason Isaacs was still very meh.

Mel Gibson is a beast in this movie

Adam Baldwin, a true American. The Patriot, Full Metal Jacket, How to Make an American Quilt and Independence Day? Bravo, nice work Mr Baldwin.

It's pure Hollywood, and I loved it.

It's the only Roland Emmerich film that doesn't completely fricking blow. Jason Isaacs is a great villain.

I mean, he is, but he's still a fun one to hate fully. It's a good performance of what the ridiculous script demanded of him.
It's like Raul Julia as M Bison. Horrible, horrible movie, and the villain is incredibly terribly written, but his performance makes it lovably memorable and worth the watch.

I suppose. I like Isaacs as an actor. I'd like to see him with a quality script

I believe you are forgetting one of his best roles, spanning television and movies.
Jayne!
The Man they call Jayne!
He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor,
He stood up to the man and he gave him what for.
Our love for him now, aint hard to explain,
The hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne!
Our Jayne saw the Mudders' backs breakin'
He saw the Mudders lament
And he saw that magistrate takin'
Every dollar and leavin' five cents
So he said, "You can't do that to my people"
"You can't crush them under your heel"
Jayne strapped on his hat
And in five seconds flat
Stole everything Boss Higgins had to steal
He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor
Stood up to the Man and he gave him what for
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain
The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne
Now here is what separates heroes
From common folk like you and I
The man they call Jayne
He turned 'round his plane
And let that money hit sky
He dropped it onto our houses
He dropped it into our yards
And the man they call Jayne
He turned round his plane
And headed out for the stars
He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor
Stood up to the Man and he gave him what for
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain
The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne!
