Good for him, truly an honor. I hope this doesn't end up pushing him towards Arizona, though. Would be nice to see he and Oubre come back home for college.

I was about to say it would be nice for him to be heading there as an LSU commit already so he could start talking around with the other guys there.
Still an awesome thing for any high school athlete to get to do

Interesting. Might not mean a whole lot, but Findlay Prep guys generally are open to leaving their home state for college.
Cory Joseph, Myck Kabongo, and Tristan Thompson are all Canadians and went to Texas, Ashley from Oakland went to Arizona, Lucas from Portland went to Kansas, Williams-Goss from Vegas went to Washington, Shepard from Houston went to San Diego State, Avery Bradley from Seattle went to Texas, Allerik Freeman from Charlotte went to Baylor, DeAndre Liggins from Chicago went to UK, and then a couple of guys, most prominently Anthony Bennett just stayed in Vegas and attended UNLV.
Can't think of anyone besides Nick Johnson who went back to his home state.

Really hope LSU can get him

Damn, his dad told me about this two weeks ago. I was hoping that he wouldn't go. I was looking forward to seeing him play his final year.
Unfortunately, I think this decision is a blow to LSU. I hope I'm wrong though. I think if he gets an UK offer, which is what he's been waiting on for a while now, he's going there. Selfishly, I don't want him to get one b/c I think that's the only school he'll select above LSU. As of right now, he doesn't hold one yet.

Well that pursuit was fun while it lasted.

As I think about more, this move also points more towards him being a one and done player with all the praise he's been getting on the AAU scene and with what NBA scouts have projected him during his draft class. I think this move is more to get him ready for the NBA versus anything else. I think he wants to play against the best right in the nation right now and playing against local LA talent isn't going to prepare him for what his ultimate goal is.

It sucks for our pursuit of him but I can't be upset at any player who goes to one of the big prep schools. It'll definitely give him an extra boost he wouldn't get at St. Aug.

People always overestimate the number of one and dones, at least the one and dones who have done enough to leave (I'm looking at you, Grant Jerrett).
Victor is 14, 21, and 31 on Scout, Rivals, and Espn and he hasn't been one of the guys to get an astronomical bump in the early AAU season.

he isn't tall enough to be a one and done. And he doesn't quite have the wing skills to be that player either.
He's prob a 2 year CBB player at the least.
St Aug isnt Findlay Prep, but come on. This is so stupid

When you have NBA scouts telling you that you're a projected lottery pick do you think any of those other scouting services really matter?
This is something that he's been told at the NBPA this year. So, I would assume this move to Findlay Prep is to further prep him for that one and done jump.

frick AAU and definitely frick Greg Holmes! Nothing to gain by going!

Scouts are saying that to dozens of kids though. It's important because it shows he's on their radar, but there are usually at most 2-3 kids who are guaranteed lottery picks before their senior years.
I mean just look at the Scout rankings this year. The guy in front of Victor is playing on the US U-19 national team with a bunch of college sophomores, and it's not like he is some Tyler Hansbrough type who was intentionally held back for 2 years so he could dominate younger kids.
He is a 17 year old who is playing better than all conference players in an international tournament, and there are still a dozen guys in this year's senior class ranked above him in all of the sites.
Your cousin (nephew?) is obviously a special talent, and he is being buttered up by assistant coaches and scouts because they like him, but to be fair, a lot of those guys are professional brown-nosers who are doing the same thing to plenty of other kids who are showing the ability to be future NBA players.
Btw, why did all of the good seniors besides Victor, Looney, and a couple others skip the NBPA camp this year? All of the top underclassmen were there, but it seemed like the seniors were skipping it for the most part. Okafor and Winslow have an excuse, but not the others

The goal of the transfer is to develop wing skills like Bridgewater did with his transfer.

That's frickin laughable. Bridgewarer went to fricking Scotlandville.
